LiveU IQ brings new connectivity management opportunities to renowned broadcaster

A “world-renowned” broadcaster and long-time LiveU customer has successfully completed a series of live connectivity tests using the LiveU IQ solution, which leverages intelligent AI-based decision making to dynamically switch modems between operators.

The broadcaster tested LIQ’s resilience and performance at a number of live sporting events, including international rugby and premier league soccer matches, as well as during news broadcasts from locations with congested or limited mobile coverage. Using its fleet of LiveU LU800 dongles, the broadcaster was able to rely on LIQ to intelligently select the highest performing mobile network operators at each location, maintaining a consistent stream during each session. The tests demonstrated that LIQ provided “high quality, low latency” transmissions over linked mobile networks in difficult situations that previously would have required the use of traditional, generally more expensive and complex connectivity options.

Overcoming challenging environments

These tests have also shown that LIQ not only allows broadcasters to break free from the limitations of pre-assigned networks, but also provides them with predictable data analytics that enable them to overcome previous difficulties in known difficult environments. In the words of Yulia Rozmarin, director of product management at LiveU, this tool represents “a fundamental shift” in connectivity. “Broadcasters can now confidently deploy in challenging environments that previously required expensive satellite or fiber options, knowing LIQ will continuously optimize their connection parameters to deliver better performance and higher bitrates,” she explains.
