MediorNet MicroN UHD by Riedel manages the signals of Ü10, Studio Berlin’s latest mobile unit
Studio Berlin has decided to integrate the 里德尔 MediorNet MicroN UHD distribution and processing solution into Ü10, its latest mobile UHD HDR unit.
MicroN UHD is the latest generation of the MediorNet MicroN family of high-density modular signal interfaces, bringing more bandwidth, more I/O, higher resolutions and more processing power to the MediorNet platform. Eight MicroN UHD modules are being used as stage boxes in Studio Berlin’s Ü10, while the remaining 30 units are configured as multiviewers using the MicroN UHD MultiViewer application。
To provide the production teams with a safe working environment in the mobile unit’s control room, Studio Berlin has decided to install ten complete equipment racks in a separate trailer, with a fibre-optic link connecting the two spaces. In this way, the Riedel MediorNet MicroN UHD system is distributed between the two vehicles. Thanks to this configuration, the Ü10 can accommodate up to 26 workstations (and 24 UHD cameras) with the recommended social distancing.
Matthias Alexandru, technical director at Studio Berlin, explains the key reasons for choosing the Riedel solution: “The distributed architecture of Riedel’s MediorNet MicroN UHD allows us to start small and scale the system with additional modules as needed. Furthermore, it enables production teams to collect and distribute all stage box signals directly from where they originate. With centralized solutions, this process requires additional hardware that adds weight, reduces flexibility, and increases costs.”
On the other hand, Tobias Claus, senior account manager broadcast of Riedel, wanted to emphasize that the company “couldn’t be prouder” to have the solution MediorNet MicroN UHD “working behind the scenes to provide decentralized signal routing.”
