The Paper provides 19-hour coverage of a space launch with TVU transmitters
The ТВУ One 5G transmitters, deployed by The Paper’s Chinese digital newspaper team, were responsible for providing 19 hours of video and still images of the launch of the Mengtian space capsule.
The Paper’s live launch countdown included interviews with industry experts and bystanders on the beach at Wenchang Qishui Bay, as well as the live camera broadcast (LCB) of the launch itself. Using a TVU One 5G mobile transmitter, the 19 hours of video and still images were sent to a TVU transceiver at The Paper’s production centre in Shanghai for transcoding.
TVU Networks’ support for 5G and the robustness of the company’s IS+ multi-network aggregation transmission technology received praise from The Paper staff. Deng Chaojian, one of its reporters, notes that “with its support of 5G and multi-network aggregation, we were completely confident of a stable signal at lift off.” “The TVU technology not only works wonders with live broadcast video but also reproduces high-quality stills. During the entire pre- and at-launch process, TVU One was very stable and reliable, helping us successfully complete the live broadcast mission,” he adds.
Mengtian (which can be translated as “dreaming of the skies”) is a laboratory cabin module for the Tiangong space station equipped with eight research cabins. It provides a pressurised environment for researchers to conduct experiments in free fall or zero gravity that could not be conducted on Earth for more than a few minutes. It also allows experiments to be conducted outside the modules to expose them to the space environment, cosmic rays, vacuum and solar winds.
Paul Schen, CEO of TVU Networks, is proud of the performance of the company’s solutions: “We’re beyond thrilled to be part of this historic event in China. The Paper’s pre-launch coverage was key in spreading enthusiasm for the mission and China’s space program worldwide. Our TVU One and TVU Transceiver performed flawlessly and delivered rock solid results of the successful launch.”
