LiveU deploys 4,000 units to cover US elections 2024 US elections
925 customers in 56 countries deployed 4,000 Ao vivoU units to cover the 2024 US elections, doubling the use of the company’s IP ecosystem compared to the 2020 elections.
LiveU’s flagship LU800 units were deployed across the US, broadcasting content to Latin America, the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Africa and the US itself. In total, more than 40TB of data was shared, representing almost 40,000 hours of live content.
LiveU Matrix, the company’s cloud-native IP video distribution solution, played a key role with the distribution of 23,000 hours of live broadcasts and 7,500 shared broadcasts, almost double the content distributed during the 2020 election. The LiveU Matrix platform enabled broadcasters around the world to exchange high-quality, low-latency live feeds and create collaborative news pools, helping to extend content coverage from battleground states to campaign headquarters.
For the first time at a major event, LiveU Ingest played a decisive role in the production process, as major broadcasters deployed this solution for automatic recording and metadata tagging of stories capable of integrating with their MAM systems. LiveU’s Mobile Data service was also used, combined with LAN access at major campaign sites and leveraging the LiveU Reliable Transport (LRT) protocol.
Brian Tully, Ao vivoU‘s senior vice president of sales, said it was “truly incredible” to see all the election content “created, produced and shared using our technology”. “Our teams were operating at full speed, ensuring the highest levels of reliability, video performance and customer support across the country, including Howard University, West Palm Beach, and the battleground states. (…) The scale of LiveU’s support was at the highest level, not only our on-the-ground support but also our dedicated Command Center with over 20 people supporting our global customers for 15-hours straight.”
