HdM University avvicina gli studenti al mondo IP e HDR con le soluzioni AJA
Una selezione di AJA equipment such as the FS-HDR, ColorBox or IPT/R-10G2-SD enables students at Germany’s Hochschule der Medien (HdM) to discover the advantages of IP infrastructures and SDR-HDR workflows.
The Audiovisual Media program at Hochschule der Medien (HdM) prepares students for the broadcast, production and professional audiovisual sectors with significant hands-on experience, which takes shape through access to various tools such as AJA developments. Current student-led master’s projects include HdMedia over IP, dedicated to examining the technology for video transmission over IP networks using the SMPTE ST 2110 standard, and HdMedia HDR, which delves into HD/HDR workflows within the 3G infrastructure for live applications.
To build the HdMedia over IP workflow, students used AJA IPT/R-10G2-SDI mini-converters to create a bridge between the ST 2110 infrastructure and SDI baseband devices. In parallel, the HdMedia HDR workflow integrated AJA FS-HDR real-time HDR/WCG converters and ColorBox frame synchronizers and color converters to handle HDR to SDR mapping in the video workflow, which was produced in 1080p50 HD/HDR PQ. The students also used AJA Ki Pro Ultra 12G recorders to record all camera signals individually.
Looking ahead to the upcoming winter semester 2023/24, HdM’s MA in Audiovisual Media will be renamed “Audiovisual Media Creation and Technology”. The program will emphasize the integration of science, design and technology, thus positioning itself as an interdisciplinary nexus for academic exploration. As it continues to evolve, AJA gear will remain a fundamental part of the learning experience.
