EVS NFR2000 - Neuron Compress

SVE has added new Compress and Protect functionalities to Neuron Network Attached Processor (NAP), resulting in increased efficiency for IP-based productions through substantially improved real-time asset processing.

Built on IP and with optional SDI connectivity, Neuron is one of the cornerstones of the SVE flexible multimedia infrastructure offering. The new Neuron Compress solution provides new JPEG XS encoding and decoding capabilities. This codec delivers lossless visual quality with very low latency and a typical compression ratio of 10:1, helping broadcasters reduce bandwidth usage in IP-based infrastructures. Like all other Neuron products, Compress is a high-density solution offering up to 32 UHD or 64 FHD encoder/decoders in one rack unit.

Axon Neuron NAPNeuron Protect, on the other hand, is designed to protect broadcast networks from single points of failure, using intelligent, redundant and isolated (automatic) switching. The Protect line uses all modern encapsulation standards, such as ST2022 E ST2110, and is capable of handling up to 16 channels of Full HD or 4 channels of UHD and transporting them over two redundant 100 Gb/s Ethernet connections.

Optionally, Neuron Protect can be upgraded with an SDI I/O module, which will add 40 physical SDI HD-BNC connectors, allowing easy integration of existing SDI operations into an IP environment, acting as a bridge or gateway. Protect can be used as a multi-channel A/V over IP transceiver, A/V probe, up/down converter, automatic switching (ACO) and firewall.

Alongside these new product lines, EVS has improved audio processing, as Neuron becomes MADI compliant; SDR-HDR conversion, as Neuron becomes LUT-based; and colour correction, as EVS has added YCrCb and Hue settings to all Neuron colour correctors.
