Lawo HOME Apps IP DSP IBC 2024

Les leurs continues its journey into the world of IP at CIB 2024, where it will present major developments and anticipate a future characterized by the adaptability and versatility of such environments.

CIB 2024 (September 13-16) will mark the official launch of the Home mc² DSP application, a solution announced at NAB 2024 that is already being used in sporting events worldwide and will be available to the general public in the fourth quarter of 2024. This server-based audio engine combines the flexibility of the Home Apps platform in terms of connectivity and scalability with Lawo’s audio processing technology and ultra-low latency.

Like all Home Apps, the mc² DSP application is based on cloud-native technology using microservices and containers. It can be used in conjunction with mc² mixing consoles or as a headless mixing system to provide server-based audio processing in situations where A__UHD Core is not available or where staying within the scope of Home applications is more practical.

Lawo - IBC 2024 - VSCVSC arrives: virtual audio for Apple

Lawo will also debut Lawo VSC at IBC 2024. This virtual audio device designed specifically for macOS 14 and later on Apple desktops and laptops sends and receives audio sources from local computers as Ravenna/AES67 streams over a network.

Designed for “modern” broadcast contexts, Lawo VSC facilitates, in its full version, up to 128 audio devices per instance and up to 128 uncompressed bidirectional audio channels per virtual audio device in multicast or unicast mode, with sampling rates up to 96kHz and support for open Audio-over-IP standards. The free version of Lawo VSC, which will be available along with the standard option in August 2024, supports a virtual audio device with up to 2 transmitter and receiver channels on a single network interface.

Lawo IBC 2024 CrystalThe new Crystal console at IBC 2024

In a European first, Les leurs will present at IBC 2024 its new crystal console, an IP-native broadcast mixing system that is based on RAVENNA/AES67 Audio-over-IP open network standards and complies with SMPTE ST2110-30/-31 for audio and ST2022-7 for redundancy. Powered by the Power Core engine, Crystal supports expandable I/O, accommodating AES67, MADI, analog, AES3 as well as Dante audio sources and destinations. The system will demonstrate at the Amsterdam RAI its two distinct modes of operation: Power Core et Controller. While the first option allows the desk to serve as a standard control system, the second mode allows it to serve as an extension interface for mc² audio production consoles.

Lawo will also use CIB 2024 to present its new OnAir Radio virtual interface, which features Power Core support and compatibility with Diamond et Crystal consoles.
