Riedel - INMOTIO LPM

The LPM system, based on radar technology that measures the position of players and other assets with an accuracy of +/- 3 cm, in high frequency (1,000 Hz) and in real time developed by Inmotio, has been acquired by Riedel.

Le Netherlands-based company Inmotio specialises in providing sports teams and associations worldwide with physical and tactical information through different suivi solutions. The centrepiece of these technologies is the LPM platform, which Lutz Rathmann, CEO of Riedel’s Managed Technology, defines as “the gold standard in sports performance measurement, far surpassing ultra-wideband trackers in terms of capabilities, user capacity, and accuracy.”

Le LPM platform is based on a real-time network connected to several base stations located around the measurement site. Athletes wear a special waistcoat with a transponder that can be tracked in 2D and 3D space with an operating range of up to 1,000 metres and capacity for 1,000 users. Riedel, in Rathmann’s words, hopes to bring this technology to “a wider audience” to be used “in some of the world’s most high-profile projects”.

Thomas Riedel, CEO and founder of Riedel, welcomes the acquisition of LPM, while anticipating that the development of Inmotio will extend beyond the boundaries of sport: “This cutting-edge technology opens up a wide range of applications to enhance the portfolio of the entire Riedel Group — even reaching far beyond the world of sports.”
