Dock10 produces SDR and HDR content simultaneously with AJA FS-HDR
Le AJA FS-HDR real-time HDR/WCG frame converters/synchronizers enabled dock10 to deliver UHD HDR and HD SDR content simultaneously and remotely.
During summer 2021, the AJA FS-HDRs helped dock10 produce live HDR et DTS production for some of the most high-profile sports tournaments held across Europe. To facilitate remote production of the events, dock10 took the UltraHD HDR feeds from each match and integrated them with 3G-SDI SDR content created in its virtual studio to produce both UHD HDR et HD DTS formats. The FS-HDRs were responsible for synchronizing and converting the signal’s color space to UHD SDR for monitoring and to feed the background of dock10’s virtual studio system.
Similarly, the AJA solution was also used for MADI audio embedding and for down-conversion from UHD HDR to HD SDR. The FS-HDR video delay function was also used to adjust the lip sync, as the venue’s audio sources were coming from different routes than the image; in parallel, it was also decided to use the LUT conversion functions built into FS-HDR itself.
Dock10 used three of its own FS-HDRs for its production work, and rented additional units when necessary. Along with the FS-HDR, dock10 also uses AJA Corvid 88 video I/O cards for its virtual studio render engines.
Michael Lodmore, duty technology manager at dock10, couldn’t be happier with the performance of the AJA solution: “We initially looked at the FS-HDRs for their LUT processing capabilities, but quickly started using so many other features that the devices offer – from frame synchronization to audio processing. FS-HDR is truly a swiss army knife for HDR production, and saved us from purchasing or renting other equipment.”
