Panasonic introduces four lightweight 4K60p broadcast cameras
The new HC-X1200, HC-X1600, HC-X2100 and AG-CX20 models complete Panasonic’s range of broadcast cameras with 10-bit 4K60p recording capabilities, a 25mm wide-angle lens and 24x optical zoom.
Panasonic’s new 4K broadcast camera series has been specially designed for single-camera recording formats where mobility and versatility are required. The camcorders support a wide range of bit rates and formats to meet key professional needs, including 10-bit 4:2:2 internal recording options up to 29.98p in UHD, and up to 59.94p in FHD; the ability to record via HDMI in 10-bit 4K60p 4:2:2:2 with an external solution; or high-efficiency HEVC (LongGOP/10-bit 4:2:0/MOV) recording options.
The built-in lens offers 24x optical zoom ranging from 25mm wide-angle to 600mm telephoto, while the i.ZOOM function reaches 32x in 4K mode and 48x in FHD mode. In terms of operation, there are two manual rings: one for focus and one for zoom or iris. ND filters can be selected from 1/4, 1/16, 1/64 and Clear, while glass is used as a countermeasure against sunlight condensation burn.
Focusing speed, stability and tracking performance for both 4K and FHD are achieved thanks to AF/AE with face detection, together with precise focus lens drive. Regarding image stabilisation, this works to detect and correct hand shake on 5 axes, including rotational blur. This provides strong correction in unstable conditions, such as low and high angle shooting. The Ball O.I.S. system reduces friction in the drive section, achieving smooth correction even for small amplitude hand movement.
The high-end AG-CX20/HC-X2100 models support FHD live streaming via Wi-Fi and Ethernet. In addition, the AG-CX20 will support SRT protocol in the future via upgrade. From a system perspective, the AG-CX20/HC-X2100 models are equipped with 3G-SDI and support simultaneous output with HDMI. The AG-CX20 also provides IP connectivity compatible with NDI HX2.
Beyond their technical video recording features, these solutions include extensive quality-of-life enhancements that translate into more straightforward and easier operability: a high-resolution OLED viewfinder, USB-C ports, dual SD card slots, integrated light in the handle, low bit rate recording modes, low speed zoom or RTMP support.
