Mat Whitecross shoots 'Ídolos' in Spain, a film set in the world of MotoGP
4 Cats Pictures, Warner Bros. Entertainment Spain, Mogambo Productions, Anangu Group, Warner Bros. Entertainment Italy y Greenboo Production They are the promoters of 'Idols', a story of improvement, ego, adrenaline, love and second chances set in the context of MotoGP.
idols tells the story of two generations of runners. The film, whose filming will take place throughout 10 weeks in different locations of Spain, Italy and other countries around the world, will tell the story of Antonio, a retired motorcyclist with past traumas who decides to train his impulsive and talented son, Edu, so that he can develop his full potential and become the best in the same discipline. Mat Whitecross (This England, The sound of 007, Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlin Film Festival for Road to Guantanamo) directs this story, an original story of Jordi Gasull (Buffalo Kids, Mummies, Capture the Flag, The Adventures of Tadeo Jones) written by Gasull himself together with Inma Canovas (Ángeles S.A.) y Ricky Roxburgh (Ozi: voice of the forest, Monsters at work and winner of a Daytime Emmy for the screenplay of Tangled: the series).
Fiction counts, beyond the production of 4 Cats pictures, Warner Bros. Entertainment España, Mogambo Productions, Anangu Grup, Warner Bros. Entertainment Italy y Greenboo Production, with the collaboration of MotoGP and the participation of Max. Warner Bros. Pictures Spain will be in charge of the distribution.
Oscar Casas will put himself in the shoes of the protagonist of the story, Edu (My loneliness has wings, Headless chickens), while Ana Mena (Welcome to Eden, The skin I live in) co-stars in the film playing the character of Luna. The Italian actor completes the cast Claudio Santamaría (Shark Teeth, Physical education), Spanish Enrique Arce (Rifkin’s Festival, Terminator: dark fate), Saul Nanni (Supersex, Beard) and the rapper and actor Simone Baldasseroni (tear maker, Crazy for Football).
This is the synopsis of idols: "Edu is a very aggressive young motorcycle racer whom no team trusts. Eli, team leader of the Aspar Team in Moto2, offers him an opportunity on the condition that his father, Antonio Belardi, trains him. Edu has not seen his father for many years, a former rider who retired from the tracks after causing the death of another rider during a race. Although Edu hates his father for having abandoned him, he knows that only with him can he achieve his dream. Edu "He will submit to the strict preparation control that Antonio demands of him, which includes putting love aside... Until he meets Luna, a young artist who has just opened a tattoo parlor right below his house."
