'Camera-kinesis': Manuel Balseiro compiles an entire treatise on camera movement
The latest publication by Manuel Balseiro, camera operator specialized in remote and robotic cameras for RTVE, and member of the Guild of Television Camera Professionals (GTC), in which he has been working for the last few years, 'Camera-kinesis', has just been published. see the light.
From the same author of the books TAOC, Advanced Techniques for the Camera Operator y The hot head, a great step forward in camera movement, now we have a treatise on camera movement, in hardcover format and 284 pages with a lot of information about the narrative of the movement, the technique and the current tools to articulate it, as a taxonomy of the camera supports of any current audiovisual production .
Since the manual camera mounts, such as the Ergorig, the Easyrig or the Trinity; until the remote with hot heads, such as telescopic cranes, Towercams or Motion Control, ending with the stabilized and hybrid ones that dominate the most demanding productions, such as the different types of cablecam, the Ultimate Arm, the Steadyseg or different mounts such as the Kornercrane head.
The director of photography Pol Turrents (AEC) opens the book with a prologue giving us background on the importance of camera movement in our audiovisual productions.
The book reflects the experience, analysis and mastery of the art of camera movement, and the numerous hours as a trainer to image professionals during these last years at the RTVE Institute or as ICE (Independent Certified Expert) of Sony, and of the different studies and publications of technical articles in specialized magazines in the sector.
Camera-Kinesis has a first part theoretical-practical about movement and what techniques we have to carry it out, some of them personal theories of the author, limiting when we can define a camera movement as correct or effective in our production. Additionally, it includes a section of interviews to professionals in the sector and outstanding information on associations, awards and recognitions received worldwide in camera media.
