COITT - Tribute - engineers - 50 years

Telecommunications engineers from the class of 1973, some of them the first to graduate in Spain in the specialty of image and sound, have been honored with an event promoted by the COITT.

The quote promoted by Official College of Telecommunications Technical Engineers (COITT) has had the objective of “recognizing and valuing” the work and dedication of more than one thirty members graduated in 1973 in different parts of Spain. During the day, attendees were able to visit the school headquarters, accompanied by representatives of the Board of Directors, to learn about the new facilities and services available to members.

The another, eminently “family and friendship”, has continued with a convivial lunch. During the event, there was no shortage of shared experiences, experiences and anecdotes in the exercise of the profession, nor the traditional presentation of diplomas, borders and insignia. To finish with the projection of a video that has offered a tour of some of the main milestones of the 70s, the year of the recognized promotion, and the professional career and specialty of each of the honorees.

The meeting was attended by Manuel Recuero, professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and Amador González, director of the Higher Technical School of Engineering and Telecommunications Systems. On behalf of the COITT/AEGITT, Luis Miguel Chapinal, dean of the school, attended; Josep Alvarado, secretary of the COITT; Roberto Encinas, treasurer of the AEGITT; Juan Manuel Martínez Mourín, deputy secretary and delegate of COITT Madrid; Tomás Llorente, coordinator of the COITT Senior Club, and the person in charge of Institutional Relations, Susana Escobedo.

Luis Miguel Chapinal, dean of COITT, highlighted in his speech the important work in society of telecommunications technical engineers and the contribution of those honored: “Without you the telecommunications sector would not be what it is now. You were pioneers and you have gotten more and more engineers to come to the profession, because telecommunications engineering is becoming more and more important. Currently, different waves of technology are happening, which make us constantly updating ourselves and at the forefront of innovation.”

On behalf of the members, he thanked the organization of this reunion between professionals Nicolás Puerto Barrios, who had a special memory for his colleagues and colleagues who are no longer here. He remembered and cited some of the teachers and manuals that most influenced his formative period, to end with the donation to the school of a historical copy: a book that contains the minutes of the 1932 Congress, and the creation of the Union International Telecommunications (ITU).
