The University of the Basque Country will host the EITB Communication Classroom
Classroom EITB of Communication of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) will allow the joint carrying out of activities and projects related to training, research and dissemination.
The initiative has been presented in an event with the presence of the rector of the UPV/EHU Eva Ferreira, the general director of EITB From Andoni and the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication, Ana Irene del Valle. The EITB Communication Classroom, in the words of its managers, is a stable place for “generation and exchange of knowledge” for teachers, professionals and students, as well as an appropriate environment to develop collaborative projects with the participation of students in different areas, such as data analysis, new audiovisual formats or artificial intelligence. It will also bring the classrooms closer to the EITB production processes and identify the young talent coming out of the UPV/EHU's communication degrees.
The supporter has highlighted the special importance and strategic value of cooperation to face the challenges that arise in the current context of cultural, technological and digital change: “EITB and the UPV/EHU have a double objective: on the one hand, adapt journalism and communication to the new digital era and new consumption; and, on the other hand, in a time when society demands truthfulness, reliable sources and being able to believe in journalism, we have to train the best information professionals in Euskadi. (…) Joint work is a tool to guarantee good journalism in Euskadi.”
On the other hand, Ferreira has placed emphasis on the creation of the University-Business and University-Society classrooms. The rector of the University of the Basque Country explained that they formulate challenges of “common interest” and “articulate specific lines of training, research and knowledge transfer. “The EITB Classroom is an extraordinary opportunity for collaboration with one of the leading communication groups in our country. An initiative that will serve to strengthen the relationships that we already maintain and that will also impact the training of our students,” added Ferreira.
Finally, the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication, Ana Irene del Valle, wanted to highlight the collaboration of two institutions: “Throughout its 40 years of existence, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication has trained numerous EITB professionals, an entity that has also had a lot to say in this training through scholarships, internships and programs such as the UPV/EHU master's degree,” he recalled.
