The Goya 2023 confirm Alauda Ruiz de Azúa as revelation director for 'Cinco Lobitos'
After her success at the Malaga festival, Alauda Ruiz de Azúa has been praised by the Academy of Dinner as Best New Director at the Goya 2023 for 'Cinco Lobitos', in a disputed category with contenders such as Carlota Pereda ('Cerdita'), Elena López Riera ('El agua'), Juan Diego Botto ('En los margins') and Mikel Gurrea ('Suro').
The exciting and personal work Cinco Lobitos has allowed Alauda Ruiz de Azúa confirm herself as one of the most outstanding creators of the future of Spanish cinema. The feature film, defined by the director herself as an attempt to understand her own maternity and the paternal and maternal-child relationships, manages not only to represent a rehearsal of Ruiz de Azúa's vision, but also to directly challenge the spectators of the Spanish theaters, who have received this brave bet with open arms.
The best new director of the Goya 2023 has thanked his entire team, the viewers and his family for the award “for educating me in the value of cinema.” Subsequently, he took advantage of the opportunity to claim a cinema based on “intuition” and “personal bets”. “We must regain faith that by betting on personal stories you can reach many people and many places,” Ruiz de Azúa stressed.
