Harmonic and Hitron Technologies create flexible and sustainable fiber solution
The combination of CableOS FTTx solution from Harmonic with Nova-2002 and Nova-2004 optical network units Hitron They allow you to implement a flexible and cloud-native infrastructure to offer symmetrical 10G services.
The platform CableOS converges multiple access technologies, such as HFC DOCSIS y XGS-PON, with a unified software, provisioning and management system that allows for higher speed symmetrical data transfer. By enabling precision PON deployments, the CableOS Platform makes it easier for operators to scalability and adaptation to changes in network requirements and bandwidth demands. Additionally, as an open solution, the CableOS Platform allows operators to select the optical network unit (ONU) that best suits their business and service needs, while avoiding vendor lock-in. Interoperability between the CableOS Platform and solutions UN of Hitron allows operators to offer speeds of up to 10G in descending and ascending direction.
Nelson Cable in Virginia has successfully deployed the solution for next-generation broadband delivery. John Holman, its technical director, tells more details about the process: “In addition to offering faster speeds, our goal with the 10G system upgrade was to improve energy efficiency and be environmentally friendly in the process. After a long process of evaluating the available options, we chose the solution from Harmonic and Hitron because of their extensive broadband experience, their ability to deliver ultra-fast Internet speeds and their ongoing technical support.”
Greg Fisher, president and chief technology officer of Hitron, celebrates this collaboration with Harmonic: “We are delighted to partner with Harmonic and provide cable operators with a sustainable foundation for next-generation broadband. “The combination of Hitron ONUs with Harmonic’s CableOS platform creates a flexible path to fiber and enables our customers to monetize their networks through high-ARPU symmetrical enterprise services and premium residential services.” On the other hand, Nimrod Ben-Natan, senior vice president and general manager of Harmonic's broadband business, highlights the strengths of this collaboration: “Our joint solution with Hitron provides operators with greater optionality, business agility and environmental efficiency, accelerating time to market for ultra-fast Internet deployments.”
