TVU Network to show how it brings together 4K and 5G in the cloud at IBC 2022
TVU Networks will attend IBC 2022 to give full details of its cloud production ecosystem, capable of working in 4K and underpinned by 5G broadcast networks.
The TVU Cloud ecosystem by TVU Networks, which can be discovered on stand 5.C73 at IBC 2022 (9-12 September, Amsterdam), is an end-to-end solution that provides high bandwidth and resiliency, ultra-low latency and connectivity with speeds up to 100 times faster than 4G. This ecosystem is a fully cloud-native and customisable platform that has adapted and evolved to meet the needs of Tier 1 users.
The components of the TVU cloud-based ecosystem work together “in the most challenging network environments”. Professional cameras equipped with the TVU One mobile transmitter, as well as mobile devices using the TVU Anywhere app, deliver high-quality, low-latency 4K video. The TVU RPS remote production system uses an encoder and decoder to seamlessly synchronise multiple remote sources and send them to the studio, while TVU Producer allows live programmes to be streamed from any of these sources without a studio infrastructure. TVU Partyline brings the entire team together to collaborate in real time via fully synchronised signals for live production or virtual events, regardless of location.
And with the cloud-based TVU Remote Commentator platform, broadcasters can call the action from anywhere with an internet connection. Finally, TVU Channel is presented as a 24/7 solution that combines cloud broadcasting, live production, SCTE management, scheduling, server-side ad insertion and CDN in one easy-to-use micro-application. With a running log included in TVU Channel, the solution is ready for FAST (Free TV with Advertising) channel playout or for any content creator who wants to start a channel with ad insertion.
Paul Shen, CEO of TVU Networks, believes that as of today the company is ready to offer “a cloud-native ecosystem of 5G, 4K solutions that integrate smoothly in a microservices-based, building block approach, making it easy and cost-effective to add capabilities as needed.”
TVU and RTVE
Recently, Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE) relied on the TVU cloud-based 4K and 5G solutions for live productions of the Almagro Classical Theatre Festival, held throughout July in Almagro, Spain. Pere Vila, RTVE’s director of technology strategy, discussed the project in detail in Panorama Audiovisual (in Spanish).
For this initiative, RTVE deployed the TVU One 5G mobile transmitter, TVU Producer production platform and TVU Anywhere mobile app for a nightly broadcast of Sound Fiction performed by colleagues from Radio Nacional de España at the Corral de Comedias, using an eight-input HD mix configuration, with one input on TVU Producer used to capture stereo audio. In addition, the team produced a 30-minute magazine-style programme in 4K, capturing the atmosphere of the festival in Almagro with interviews at different locations around the city, including from the Corral. For the evening magazine-style programme, RTVE opted for the TVU Producer configured in a 4K cloud workflow, with a PTZ camera in the town hall and three smartphones on location in Almagro. The production team used the real-time cloud collaboration solution TVU Partyline as an IFB channel with the team in the technical area and for communication between the programme presenter and the collaborating journalists.
“We continue to break new ground not only with our products, but also by establishing a growing number of alliances with first class technical partners and customers throughout the world. Our collaborations with Elgato, RTVE and the many media firms we’re in constant communication with extend the capabilities of our cloud-based ecosystem beyond what we could have imagined just a few years ago,” Shen stresses.
TVU Networks will soon announce details of new partnerships with Blackbird, Amazon Web Services and Avid.
