LiveU's LU800 5G backpacks, responsible for coverage of the Vitality London 10,000 race
Over Exposed y Gravity Media have joined forces to cover for BBC Red Button and YouTube the Vitality London 10,000 race with 5G Lu800 backpacks LiveU.
Over Exposed started using LiveU eight years ago. Since then, he has continued to rely on his technology, moving from small streaming projects to large-scale streaming events for use in broadcast environments. For the road Vitality London 10.000, the producer expanded its park of backpacks four to six units combining teams LU300 y LU800. Over Exposed was responsible for deploy the solutions, manage signal acquisition via LiveU y process your shipment to the team of Gravity Media. Later, this second production company would be in charge of the production of images, including comments y graphics, before distributing them to the YouTube of the London Marathon and at the service Red Button from BBC.
Russell Martin, co-owner of Over Exposed, provides more details of the production, such as the use of traveling cameras so that presenters could move freely throughout the race: “This gave us access that with a traditional OB truck would have been impossible or prohibitive.” The producer also used three motorcycles with LiveU units to follow the runners: “Once again, this gave us unrivaled flexibility and cost reduction, as we would otherwise have had to use a helicopter. There is no need to spend huge amounts of money assembling equipment in London, which of course is also a logistical nightmare. No permits needed for cranes or airplanes, etc. It's a much more cost-effective, efficient and flexible way of working - it allowed us to gather great content wherever we wanted. Combined with the resource savings that remote production allows, coupled with 5G which is certainly a plus, although LiveU works brilliantly with 4G too, this was a very successful project.”
Ryan Goad, head of communications London Marathon Events, also shown satisfied for the production: “The coverage achieved at the Vitality London 10,000 was excellent. The motorcycle-based visuals were very clear and helped bring to life a fantastic collection of elite racing, as well as giving a real feel for the different emotions of the thousands of mass participation racers who took part in the event. The cost savings resulting from the use of this technology cannot be ignored either because of how significant it is.” Finally, Malcolm Harland, country manager de LiveU in the UK, notes: “The way Over Exposed used our technology for this event is a real vindication of all the work LiveU has done in the sports market and beyond. Remote production, 5G (also 4G) and LiveU is a formidable combination of technologies and workflows that ultimately benefits the viewer.”
