IBC 2019 - 2022

The organization of IBC 2022 (9-12 September) has confirmed through a web event the main speakers of the IBC Conference, a parallel event to the fair that will bring together leaders of brands such as Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, Universal Pictures or Marvel Studios.

The IBC Conference This year (9 and 10 September) will bring together some of the most influential thought leaders in the sector to present Presentations, Round Tables and Technical Papers under the theme What's next? Designing the future together“. The event will explore the Main trends and technologies that shape the future of the media, such as the Metaverse, Data-Driven Advertising Strategies, Hybrid Business Models, and Cloud Migration. Among the main confirmed speakers are Eddie Drake, Chief Technology Officer at Marvel Studios; Anthony Guarino, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Technical Operations at Paramount Global; Renard Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Production Integration and Creative Technology Services at Warner Bros. Discovery; Michael Wise, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Universal Pictures; Lewis Smithingham, Senior Vice President of Innovation at Media Monks; Raymundo Barros, CTO of Balloonor Archana Anand, Business Director of ZEE5 Global. Jo Mayer, head of marketing at IBC, has remarked that more women will soon be added to the line-up in order to configure a more balanced final line-up.

IBC ÁmsterdamIn parallel, IBC's partner program will host the new free sessions IBC Changemaker, which brings together industry pioneers such as RISE, Albert, MovieLabs, HBS, and Soho Media Club to explore topics such as increasing equality, advancing sustainability, and mental health awareness, as well as the latest thinking in creativity and technology. The scenario Content Everywhere, located in Hall 5, will also present a programme of presentations covering topics such as live streaming and video on demand; achieving low latency; discovery of content and recommendations; audience participation; monetization and ad tech models; software development strategies; and device fragmentation.

In addition to this wide and diverse range of content, there is the new Showcase Theatre in Hall 12, which will offer live demonstrations, masterclasses and reflections on key trends and opportunities from leading technology providers, such as Accenture, Amazon Web Services (AWS), EVS, and Zixi.

Michael Crimp - IBC 2022What will IBC 2022 be like?

Michael Crimp, CEO of IBC, has assured that the 2022 edition of the fair will be a Return to normal after the hybrid models of previous years. This view is underlined by Steve Connolly, head of sales at IBC, who states that with 850 exhibitors (a number that "grows as the weeks go by") the "expectations placed at this time" have been exceeded. As context, in 2019, the 1700 exhibitors, so this edition can be understood as a Transition Event while normality is progressively recovering after the most aggressive phase of Covid-19.

Steve Connolly - IBC 2022IBC has highlighted that brands such as ARRI, Avid, AWS, Blackmagic Design, Canon, EVS, Fraunhofer, Grass Valley, Hewlett Packard, MediaKind, Meta, Nagra, Ross Video, Sony and Synamedia, among others, will be at the RAI in Amsterdam. Companies planning to debut at IBC this year include Ad Insertion Platform, Blitz micro, Ceeblue, Castify.ai, Castr Live Streaming, Green Streams, PikoTV, LiveAPI, Riverside.fm and XroadMedia.

Innovation at IBC 2022

The IBC Program Accelerator Media Innovation returns to Amsterdam in 2022, bringing together pioneering media companies and cutting-edge technology partners to collaborate on solving real-world challenges and driving progress in a range of areas.

This year's Accelerator projects, which will be presented at the Innovation Stage of the fair, are:

  • Unified cloud architecture to streamline the localization process.
  • Next-generation news studio
  • 5G and the arena of the future for XR events
  • 5G Remote Production... In the middle of nowhere
