Álex Pina expands his creative partnership with Netflix and is already working on a new fiction
The creator of series like Sky Red o The Money Heist, Álex Pina, has renewed his creative agreement with Netflix, already working on a new fiction project.
On October 9, 2021, a Spanish newspaper published an article about the proliferation of bunkers after the pandemic, which marked the starting point for a new series: “Some of the new shelters that were being built were luxury homes in the subsoil. Up to 15 floors down, with exclusive services such as a cinema, swimming pool, spa, gym and common gardens. With water and food to survive more than five years. An underground community for 75 people. And then we thought about what life would be like in there. The social, family, and romantic relationships, in an underground shelter to which they had fled hastily and exclusively,” says Álex Pina.
“We are excited to continue accompanying Álex Pina and his team. Pina is a reference for fiction, innovative and creative, who has inspired fans and creators around the world. After the great adventure that La casa de papel has been, we are excited to continue being a home for him, Vancouver and for all the stories that are to come," he adds. Diego Avalos, vice president of content at Netflix in Spain and Portugal.
“The new agreement with Netflix is the confirmation of some fruitful years in which we have produced seven seasons of three different series (La Casa de Papel, White Lines y Sky Red). Risky, different projects written with total freedom. But, in addition, this new stage is an extension of trust that equates us to the most important creatives in contemporary fiction and that irons out the differences that existed until very recently between North America and the rest of the world. It continues to be Netflix's commitment to local and talent, wherever it is found,” says Pina.
