Dimension Studio delves into virtual production with AJA Kona 5
The AJA Kona 5 video cards are one of the corterstones of the virtual production shoots at Dimension Studio.
Virtual production is transforming the way films, episodic series and live broadcasts are captured and created. On the cusp of volumetric capture driven by real-time game engines, Dimension Studio seeks to bridge the gap between creativity and technology to help clients produce world-class content through virtual production workflows.
Among other solutions, Dimension Studio leverages AJA hardware to optimise real-time virtual production workflows. Specifically, the AJA Kona 5 video input and output cards are used to generate high-bandwidth, ray-traced assets. This allows the production company to make creative changes on the fly during production, which “studios and clients time and money because we’re capturing in-camera, final effects, rather than waiting until post,” says Jim Geduldick, SVP and director of virtual production at Dimension Studio.
Noting the ease of creating “affordable” mixed reality environments with AJA hardware, Geduldick reveals one of the key reasons he continues to rely on the US manufacturer’s technology: “I’ve been an AJA customer for a long-time because of reliability and support. If I’m trying to figure out how to set up a live key or signal flow paths, it’s critical to have good customer support that I can reach out to.”
