Cgates encodes its 200 channels in HD and 4K for STB and OTT with Synamedia
The virtualized DCM of Synamedia allows Cgates, Lithuanian telecommunications company, encode 200 cable channels, in HD and 4K, to Set-Top-Boxes.
Cgates chose the DCM (Digital Content Manager) virtualized Synamedia because it maximizes image quality and minimizes hardware requirements thanks to compression Vivid by Synamedia. By optimizing bandwidth and latency with content-aware encoding, virtualized DCM now offers a Superior viewing experience to Cgates subscribers, even at peak times.
As a complement to the virtualized DCM, Cgates is deploying the Adaptive Bit Rate (ABR) de Synamedia, which includes packaging and storage for VOD and catch-up, as well as the Private CDN of Synamedia, which supports both HLS how MPEG-DASH. By using Synamedia's video network technologies for its entire distribution ecosystem, Cgates will offer subscribers a Immersive viewing experience and consistent high-quality through: Mobile TV app and your pay-TV service, including its new Android set-top boxes.
Among other keys, Cgates decided to bet on Synamedia for the Cloud-native architecture both virtualized DCM and ABR headend, which gives you the flexibility to deploy on-premises and then move to a hybrid or cloud model as needed. Both also share the same user-friendly interface that simplifies setup and uses the Video Services Manager (VSM) to provision and manage cloud resources.
Cgates is now working with Synamedia on future enhancements including Low latency for live sports streaming and disaster recovery.
First reactions
Tomás Burovas, CEO of Cgates, is very positive about the partnership with Synamedia: "With the bold plans to grow our services, particularly streaming, we needed a technology partner that could share our vision with flexible, scalable future-proof solutions. Synamedia stands out for its attention to innovation, especially for its latest compression techniques."
Marius Dabrisius, CTO of Cgates, shares his colleague's opinion: "As a technology partner, Synamedia exceeded our expectations. For example, we wanted a special feature for when deferred content was presented to the player. None of the vendors we spoke to had this feature. We were blown away when Synamedia's engineering team developed the feature for us in less than a week."
Julien Signès, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Video Network at Synamedia, translates the experience from the vendor's perspective: "We get a lot of attention for the wins of our big-name customers, but our powerful yet cost-effective solutions are also tailored to smaller and medium-sized video service providers. By deploying our video mesh solutions across its entire data plane, Cgates is optimizing the delivery of quality video today and is poised for the next stage of its growth."
Synamedia worked with its regional partner Scansatec for the deployment of Cgates. Headquartered in Finland, Scansatec specializes in pre-sales, integration, and support of video solutions in the Baltic and Nordic countries.
