The ICAA launches the first line of aid financed entirely with Next Generation funds
He Ministry of Culture and Sports, through the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), has announced the new line of aid for laboratories and incubators for the creation and development of audiovisual projects, financed via funds Next Generation.
The total budget of the call, aimed at initiatives to be held in Spain in 2022 y 2023, amounts to 9 million euros. It is the first line launched by the ICAA financed entirely with Next Generation funds from the European Union as part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
This new line of aid has been designed to promote initiatives aimed at increase the professionalization of the creation and development phases of audiovisual projects, without limits in terms of formats, through the innovation in narratives, the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills, raising awareness about the importance of working in the marketing, promotion and audience building from the previous phases of production and structuring of networks within the audiovisual sector.
In addition, these aids seek to promote “maximum” use of the opportunities of the digitization processes, the international co-production, accelerate the incorporation of more women and young people to the activity of the sector to bridge the gender and generational gap, and integrate a sustainable development model in audiovisual activity.
Renewal of the audiovisual industry
At the same time, the execution of these investments seeks to develop objectives aimed at professionalization and renewal of the audiovisual industry, promoting the use of innovative tools and resources in issues such as financing and audience development throughout the different stages of the creative process, thus contributing to the digital transformation of the sector para favorecer, desde la creación, modelos de producción más sostenibles y eficientes. En este sentido, tal y como establece la resolución de convocatoria, “se entiende por laboratorios e incubadoras aquellos programas, foros, plataformas de pitching y residencias donde participen profesionales y empresas que superen previamente un proceso de selección y que comprendan actividades de formación, networking y tutoría para mejorar la competencia y competitividad de profesionales y empresas en los procesos creativos y de desarrollo de proyectos audiovisuales”.
La tipología de proyectos audiovisuales engloba cortometrajes, largometrajes, series, narrativas inmersivas and of virtual reality, así como otros audiovisual and digital content, fundamentally narrative, except video games. The Autonomous Communities and the organizations and entities dependent on them, public entities that are considered Local Corporations and the organizations and entities dependent on them, and legal entities with legal residence or establishment in Spain at the time of effective receipt of the aid may be beneficiaries.
The granting of aid will be carried out through the competitive competition procedure established in the article 22.1 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General of Subsidies and with a multi-year nature. Applications can be submitted from 02/14/2022 to 03/08/2022 and through the Electronic headquarters of the Ministry of Culture and Sports. The complete bases can be consulted here.
