The Atomos Ninja family grows with Ninja V+ and Ninja Stream
Atomos announces great news for 2021: Ninja V receives the H.265 codec upgrade option and the new Ninja V+ arrives, compatible with Apple ProRes RAW 8K; and the Ninja Stream, capable of working in 4Kp60 HDR.
The new ones Ninja V+ and the Ninja V+ Pro Kit They take their base from Ninja V. Available in May 2021, they offer high-quality monitoring and expanded recording capabilities. Specifically, the new V+ include support for continuous 8Kp30 RAW recording (when connected to the Canon EOS R5) y 4Kp120 in Apple ProRes RAW (in combination with the Z CAM E2 y E2-M4).
Also included in the device's arsenal of codecs is the ability to record video inputs using the H.265 (HEVC) 10-bit for high-quality compressed recordings with small file sizes. Similarly, the Ninja V+ is presented as an expandable product given its compatibility with “future” Atomos products and new modules. AtomX.
Pro Kit for SDI streams
To continue supporting SDI users, Atomos has introduced the Ninja V+ Pro Kit, which comes with additional accessories and allows recording mode 4Kp120 ProRes RAW from the SDI RAW output of the FX9 y FX6 of Sony. However, in order to operate under these formats, the FX9 requires the extension unit XDCA-FX9 and both the FX6 and FX9 require the module AtomX SDI with RAW activation (or the Pro Kit).
In terms of general characteristics, the Ninja V+ comes with a 5″ and 1000Nit Ninja screen. Other notable features are the cash register function 3D LUT Integrated with your own custom LUTs, rendering engines AtomHDR for built-in Log to HDR transformations or configuration storage.
Ninja Stream, solution for social distancing
Another of the new products announced is the Atomos Ninja Stream. The device offers simultaneous recordings of both ProRes like H.264/5 proxy with shared file names and timecode, while sending video feeds to other Ninja, smart devices or web-based platforms simultaneously.
This 5″ connected HDR monitor-recorder has connections Wi-Fi, Ethernet y USB-C. Video streams are shared with others on set via Wi-Fi to devices and 1Gbe Ethernet up to 300m. It also allows livestreaming of content in parallel.
Ninja V, now with H.265
Finally, Atomos has announced that the Ninja V original, released in 2018, will be updated with the ability to add the H.265 (HEVC) codec in May 2021. Likewise, it has reaffirmed its commitment to continue developing updates to integrate new cameras into the ecosystem, as well as additional functionalities through the modules. AtomX.
