New TVU Remote Commentator Position Delivers Broadcast-Quality Real-Time Audio Over the Internet
The synchronized, cloud-based TVU Remote Commentator solution offers significant cost savings without special equipment that will facilitate remote commenting.
TVU Networks has developed TVU Remote Commentator, a cloud-based solution that will allow sports producers and event organizers to add real-time, synchronized audio commentary from anywhere using a public Internet connection.
Even when the event and commentators are located in different parts of the world, TVU Remote Commentator will streamline digital productions with broadcast-quality audio for live productions.
With TVU Remote Commentator, commentators no longer need to be on-site or use expensive REMI setups. All sessions are created and managed in the cloud, eliminating the need for expensive hardware or software.
Intuitive interface
Using a browser-based interface on a laptop or smart device, TVU Remote Commentator allows commentators to join production from home or from virtually anywhere with a standard Internet connection. The interface provides a high-quality, low-latency preview of the event, allowing staff to add comments synchronized with the program.
An intuitive user interface makes it easy to create events with predetermined start and end times. The event organizer can select any source (SDI IN, IP source, recorded clip, etc.) and use it as a video feedback source (VFB) and channel output, so that commentators receive a high-quality video source to follow the action. Price is based on usage, not in annual contracts, and organizers only pay for the hours used in each event.
Con TVU Remote Commentator, multiple commentators in multiple remote locations They can collaborate on a single production. TVU's auto-sync technology ensures that all audio and video from all commentators is synchronized with the primary video signal, regardless of network latency or distance to the event.
Not only can they hear each other with full mixing capability, but a private channel allows them to see each other as well, helping to observe critical body language queues and replicate in-person talent interaction.
To create multiple comment channels for different languages or regions, the organizer can create independent groups. Commenters in the same group can communicate with each other (while everyone in the group watches the same broadcast), but members of each group only see and hear their own group.
An audio operator can manage all commentator feeds using TVU's web-based audio mixer, which offers level control, recording, muting and audio channel assignment for outputs. Localized feedback sources can be directed to separate audio channels, or completely independent outputs can be created for each channel. Beyond live productions, TVU Remote Commentator can also be used to upload voiceover files for recorded content.
Matthew Domingues, product manager at TVU Networks, highlights that “the COVID-19 pandemic forced broadcasters and other content creators to adopt remote technologies. As a result, cloud-based workflows have become permanent and viable solutions for live production.”
“TVU Remote Commentator adds a new layer of productivity and cost savings. It is easy to set up a production with language-independent channels for localized coverage, and with pay-per-use pricing, you only pay for the hours you use,” he concludes.
