María Jesús Almazor, until now CEO of Telefónica Spain, will direct the new cybersecurity and cloud subsidiary in the Tech division, under the supervision of José Cerdán.

Sergio Osle

The Appointments and Remuneration Committee of Telefónica has appointed the president of Movistar + and Marketing and Product Director, Sergio Osle, like new CEO of Telefónica Spain. Oslé will be responsible for the areas of Commercial and Marketing for the General Public and Companies, Video Spain, Network and IT Operations, Territories, Transversal Processes and Simplification.

Oslé is a Telecommunications Engineer from the University of the Basque Country and an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Before Telefónica, where he landed at the end of 2017, he was a partner at McKinsey for 13 years, co-leading the Telco and Media areas.

Emilio Gayo, president of Telefónica Spain, “the appointment of Sergio Oslé as CEO is in line with the strategy that we have been setting and that was reinforced a few weeks ago: the customer is at the center and all decisions are made with that criterion. Sergio has had my trust in his current role and has shown me his ability, commitment and knowledge of the client. Now he expands his responsibilities to promote Telefónica Spain as the best company in the country and I count on him to continue working with the vision and dedication that characterizes him.”

Just a few weeks ago, Gayo himself announced the first movements of this reorganization within Telefónica Spain, with the appointment of Pedro Serrahima as director of Multibrand, Experience and Customer Policies; and with Sergio Sanchez in charge of the sales channels or the creation, among other novelties, of a Transformation and European Funds department, which leads Marisa de Urquía.

María Jesús AlmanzorCybersecurity and Cloud

Besides, María Jesús Almazor has been appointed this Tuesday CEO of the division of Telefónica Tech Cybersecurity and Cloud, el holding que engloba los negocios digitales de Ciberseguridad, Cloud y de IoT&Big Data.

The integration of both businesses will allow us to accompany our B2B client in a multi-cloud environment with security as an essential attribute and offer a fully integrated and simplified Cloud and Cybersecurity value proposition.

Jose Cerdan, CEO of Telefónica Tech, highlights that “Telefónica Tech is a story of success and growth. Now, Telefónica Tech faces the great challenge of ensuring that the Tech businesses continue to grow in a sustained and differential manner above the market, helping to capture the opportunity of the B2B segment for the Telefónica group. The strategic unit will serve the more than 5.5 million B2B customers of the Telefónica group.”

“I want to thank María Jesús Almazor for her dedication, her immense commitment and her exemplary work all these years as CEO of Telefónica Spain. Together with her, we have achieved very relevant achievements and transformed this company into a more agile and efficient organization. We owe all of this, to a large extent, to her. Without a doubt, the group will take advantage and grow with her talent and the deep knowledge of the business that María Jesús has always demonstrated,” adds Gayo.

High potential businesses

Telefónica Tech fue creada en noviembre de 2019 para englobar los negocios digitales con alto potencial de crecimiento que se prestaban en Telefónica en materia de Ciberseguridad, Cloud e IoT& Big Data.

This unit was born with the aim of expanding in the future with business opportunities that present this potential and of making acquisitions that complement the portfolio. In this sense, Telefónica Tech bought iHackLabs and Govertis in 2020.

Telefónica Tech currently leads the technological services market in the B2B segment, since due to its scale, growth and complete value proposition, it has positioned itself as one of the most relevant players in new generation IT services in Europe and Latin America.
