Mandarina will produce its new original series 'Everything else' for HBO
Abril Zamora writes, directs and stars in this series, which will consist of eight half-hour episodes and is scheduled to premiere next year.
Tinkerbell Films, subsidiary of Tangerine, will film the eight-episode (30') series for HBO Europe, everything else.
April Zamora writes, directs and stars in this story that tells the life of some insecure thirty-somethings, plagued by frustrations, who try to direct their lives in a Madrid that does not seem to make it easy for them. A range of personal relationships, rubbish jobs, random sex and weekday drunkenness. A handful of wrong decisions that show late adolescence, but also the hopeful need to feel accepted or to find a place when life is not what it is supposed to be.
Sadly comical and miserably light, everything else Without judgment, it presents us with characters who are struggling, who are trying to take control of their lives while seeking at all costs to carve out a space for themselves and, at the same time, their own identity.
Actress, screenwriter and director, Abril Zamora's most recent works as a performer include her participation in the series Vis a Vis y The mess you leave, in addition to the movie The life ahead, along with Sofía Loren. Zamora is also co-creator of hAMPA ladies, a series for which he wrote the scripts for the entire first season together with Carlos del Hoyo and in which he has directed some of them. Additionally, he has written several episodes of Elite.
David Matarín, Nuria Herrero, Andrea Guasch, María Maroto, Bea de la Cruz, Marta Belenguer, Pepe Lorente and Raúl Mérida complete the main cast, which also includes Miguel Bernardeau and Alberto Casado.
“Both HBO Europe and Mandarina have believed in the story from minute one and instead of clipping my wings, they have given me absolute freedom to be able to tell it without artistic or creative limitations, enhancing my voice and my authorship and that, when you are writing something so personal, it is a luxury and a joy. It has been a cathartic and beautiful process and although it is a bit dizzying, I feel very supported by a handful of wonderful professionals, who are also my friends. I can't ask for more,” explains Abril Zamora.
In the words of Miguel Saved, Commissioning Editor of Original Programming at HBO Europe in Spain: “We are very proud to be able to support Abril to tell this sincere, raw and real story that he wants to tell how he wants to tell it. We are also sure that something like this has never been done and that this portrait of insecurity will surprise many of our current and future clients.”
The series will begin filming at the beginning of next year with a premiere scheduled for 2021. Antony Root, Steve Matthew y Miguel Salvat are the executive producers on behalf of HBO Europe, while Santi Botello He is the executive producer of the series on behalf of Mandarina.
