7 international speakers from the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Israel and Holland; 2 master classes; 1 virtual panel-debate with avatars; 1 presentation and 2 projections of Czech stop motion make up the online program that will take place on Saturday, July 4.

Animayo Stop Motion

After the success achieved with the fifteenth edition of Animayo Gran Canaria, converted into the First Festival of animation, visual effects and video games in the world held on a 100% virtual platform, where the festival had more than 35,000 participants and 22,000 new registrations from numerous countries around the world, Animayo in collaboration with the Czech Centers program a Stop Motion Animation Special Edition for this next Saturday July 4th.

This meeting will feature 7 international speakers from the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Israel and Holland; 2 master classes; 1 virtual panel-debate with avatars; 1 presentation and 2 projections of Czech stop motion.

The international guests of this Special Edition of Stop Motion Animation, several of them top representatives of this technique worldwide, are: Tereza Brdecková (Czech Republic), journalist, film critic, novelist, screenwriter; Martin Vandas (Czech Republic), stop motion film producer; Daphne Rosenthal (Netherlands), Visual Artist and experimental director; Luca Raffaelli (Italy), writer, screenwriter and specialist in comics and animation; Patricia Ortiz Martínez (Spain), art director and animation director; Tami Berenstein (Israel), International Animation and documentary director, concept artist, animador e ilustrador; Daria Kashcheeva (Czech Republic), animation director, nominated for Daughter in the Best Animated Short Film category for the 2020 Oscars.

The day will start at 10:00 a.m. - London time zone -, with the master classes: “History of Czech animated cinema, from Hermína Tyrkova and Jiri Trnka until 1990” (10:00 a.m. to 11:10 a.m.), and “ How to film Stop motion in the 3D era?” (11:10 a.m. to 11:55 a.m.). This will be followed by the panel “Virtual conversations about Czech animation: Country of reference for Stop motion, an art closely linked to its political and social future” (12:00 to 1:30 p.m.). The special continues in the afternoon with the screenings of two cycles of Czech animated shorts under the headings 'Great Animation Classics' (5:00 p.m. to 6:10 p.m.) and 'Contemporary Stop Motion' (6:30 p.m. to 7:40 p.m.), in which some of the best works of the prestigious FAMU school will be shown. The day will end with the special screening, by its director, of the short film Daughter, a work nominated this year for Best Animated Short Film at the Oscar Awards (8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.).

This Special Edition of Stop Motion Animation is jointly organized by Animayo and Czech Centers that around the world form a worldwide culture promotion network. On this occasion also collaborate: the Czech Center Brussels, Czech Center Paris, Tsjechisch Centrum Nederland, Τσεχικό Κέντρο Αθήνα / Czech Center Athens, Czech Center Tel Aviv, Czech Center Rome, Český dům Moskva / Czech House Moscow as í as the Embassies of the Czech Republic in Colombia, Madrid, Italy, the Czech National Tourism Office – CzechTourism, in addition to the FAMU International school in Prague, the Národní filmový archiv, MAUR film and Congo Films School.

The mission of the Czech Centers is to develop dialogue with the foreign public and support the active presentation of the Czech Republic in the fields of culture, science, education, trade and tourism.
