À Punt Media Televisión equips its studios with lighting and control equipment from ETC, Claypaky and MA Lighting
Stonex has been the company in charge of distributing the lighting and control material for Studio 2 of the new Valencian television channel, formerly Canal Nou.
Television lighting also adds to the transition to new devices with LED technology. These spaces, mainly illuminated with white general light, require luminaires that allow simple temperature regulation, smooth diffusion and good performance.
Due to the large number of luminaires used in a television studio, opting for LED is an intelligent decision that will allow savings of up to 80% in energy consumption while the devices dissipate less heat. which results in greater savings in air conditioning.
Now, Valencian public television At Midpoint, antigua Canal Nou, has commissioned Stonex for your Studio 2 a total of 38 units of Source Four LED Series 2 Daylight HD from the American manufacturer ETC. These luminaires are specially designed to offer the best quality of lighting on the screen in addition to not emitting any flicker even at high speeds.
In the case of À Punt Media, the general white light they needed for Studio 2 also had to be addressable so that it did not escape from the set and maintain total control over the illuminated areas. The devices purchased from ETC include Fresnel adapters to create diffused light, as well as blades that allow the light to be concentrated and directed.
“It is an alternative that improves in many aspects to the traditional 2Kw incandescent Fresnel and is in line with the current trend to work on TV with white light balances at 5600 ºK,” he states. Alberto Lage, lighting technical director.
This range produces variable cold light between 4000K and 6500K and its guarantee of up to 10 years on the LED chip makes it one of the premium products most valued by consumers.
“The projection body is separable from the Fresnel lens, making it possible to place a cut-out adapter with blades and even an adapter with an asymmetric profile for cyclorama lighting,” adds Lage.
Currently, betting on LED lighting is more than a trend. It is a way to adapt to the times to come in which lighting advances towards more sustainable, profitable and effective models.
To give more dynamic functionality to the studio, 15 units of the ETC LED PAR have been acquired. These luminaires are used for more decorative lighting with colors and color temperature, depending on the program in which they are being used, a news program has more sober and standard lighting while a variety program will have more dynamic lighting.
“The colorimetry of these devices, as in the Source Four LED Series 2, presents a powerful range of colors with yellow and green tones, by replacing the white color with the color lime, gaining additive capacity in the color composition, with "Much more natural white colors," indicates the technical director of lighting for Valencian public television. Being able to play with the color of the luminaires allows us to create more versatile spaces in which different content can be combined.
As a cyclorama, 16 units of Stormy were purchased from Claypacks thanks to its opening and an ideal color range and chromatic reproduction. These devices offer great performance: separated by two or three meters, uniform lighting is achieved for large surfaces. “Even though it is a strobe, it perfectly fulfills the function of a wash, being an LED-reflector system, ultimately avoiding the need for many luminaires,” says Alberto Lage in reference to this emblematic device from the Italian manufacturer.
Control
So many luminaires require highly reliable control, with enough power to easily manage the installation. For this purpose, a dot2 has been acquired, the most intuitive console in MA Lighting. This table is a simple but powerful option for medium-sized installations where lighting programming needs to be quickly configured. Together, a dot2 Node4 unit and a dot2 F-wing unit have also been installed to facilitate the handling of the console.
Regarding the service offered by the company in charge of providing the material, Sronex, Alberto Lage assures that “for us the most important thing has been and is the not only professional, but also human, value of the people who make up the Stonex team. Their proximity at all times and the immediate solution to our doubts and incidents make their technical and production support system a guarantee of safety and quality of service.”
