Sky Germany and MX1 expand their collaboration

The scope of the contingency service of MX1, a subsidiary of SES, will be expanded to include Sky Deutschland's over-the-top (OTT) signals, as well as its main broadcasts.

Sky Germany has agreed a further extension of the service agreement with the company MX1, which will allow the German broadcaster's customers to receive perfect audio and video signals under any conditions. In particular, the scope of the Contingency Service of the SES subsidiary will be expanded to include the Over-the-top (OTT) signals of Sky Deutschland, as well as its Main Emissions.

The MX1 Broadcast Centre you will simultaneously receive all essential data and video transmission material from the main Sky Germany channels. In the unlikely event that a natural or other disaster affects Sky's media hub, its broadcast or OTT signal will be quickly restored via the MX1 broadcast hub in Unterföhring, Germany. The agreement includes content management, broadcast and uplink services for the main signal, as well as coding and distribution for OTT delivery.
