TV3 will increase its studio production in HD HDR with Sony's HDC-4300 cameras
The Catalan Corporation of Audiovisual Media relies on the technology of Sony cameras to develop the migration project of the new HD HDR studio of its Audiovisual Production Center.
The Catalan public broadcaster Catalan Corporation of Audiovisual Media (CCMA) has acquired eight units of the HDC-4300 4K/HD camera of Sony for the production of several of its programs.
The Corporation is immersed in a renovation project aimed at migrate one of the studios in your Audiovisual Production Center to HD HDR. For this reason, it has decided to invest in innovative technology that allows it to adapt to the constant changes in the market.
To carry out this project, it has relied on Sony's HDC-4300 cameras, which are native 4K and have IP 2110 connectivity y three 2/3” 4K image sensors (compatible with the ITU-R BT.2020 color gamut to reproduce colors with maximum fidelity to reality).
Being a native 4K system camera under license, this model provides flexibility, allowing you to work in HD or native 4K depending on the needs of the moment. In fact, the HDC-4300 can be used to obtain high-quality images. extreme speed, at a maximum of 479.52/400 fps in HD recording, or a maximum of 119.88/100 fps in 4K recording. Working in 10 bits will allow the CCMA to obtain an HD HDR signal, with the consequent increase in pixel quality in terms of dynamic range and frame rate, achieving a more faithful reproduction of reality.
Ramon Sangra, director of TV3's Exploitation Area, highlights that “in the short term, these cameras will allow us to produce with the highest quality in HD, which will include the added quality that production in HDR and higher frame rate (HFR) will incorporate. This high quality HD-HDR production will allow you to obtain an image with more balanced colors, greater contrast and more precision of detail. In short, the use of the Sony HDC-4300 will allow us to have better pixels in HD, a more real image.”
Likewise, he comments Ignasi Jauset, responsible for Projects and Investments, that “investing in these native 4K cameras with IP connectivity will allow us to enter high-quality 4K production (HDR, 2020 color space), and take advantage of the benefits of IP infrastructures: remote production, assignment resource dynamics…”
The HDC-4300 is part of Sony's HDC series family of live production solutions. Therefore, its design and operation is familiar to technicians and operators of TV3 and other CCMA channels, who have already worked with Sony, which facilitates its implementation both in terms of operation and maintenance know-how and the technical characteristics of colorimetry.
