Netflix updates the list of approved cameras for its productions
Among the latest cameras incorporated into the list of approved capture systems, all the RED or the Panasonic AU-EVA1 stand out.
Netflix, the world's leading Internet entertainment service with a presence in 190 countries and more than 125 million subscribers, has updated its approval criteria in terms of capturing productions aimed at distribution on the platform.

As until now, Netflix requires the use of cameras with 4K resolution equipped with a true sensor 4K (equal to or greater than 3840 photosites wide). Regarding recording formats, it approves a minimum processing of 16-bit Linear o 10-bit Log, con una grecording at a bit rate of at least 240 Mbps (at 23.98/24 fps).
The recording format can be RAW (with uncompressed or slightly compressed sensor data) or comprimido Log Gamma como S-Log3, V-Log, CanonLog3, REDLogFilm, BMDLog, LogC…
On the other hand, Netflix remembers that no appearance or color corrections should be made to the original files of the camera and these must keep all metadata (i.e. file name, timecode, frame rate, ISO, WB…)
Black balancing of the camera sensors should be done daily, when the camera is at normal operating temperature.
In terms of aspect ratios, production companies working for Netflix who want to capture with an aspect ratio greater than 2.00:1 They must be agreed with the platform.
Regarding the use of secondary cameras, Netflix establishes that any unit in a drone, underwater housing, POV… must be approved in advance.
