Direkt Link 500/600: Intinor's next-generation mobility coding backpack
The system, designed for web TV (Direkt Link 500) and broadcast (Direkt Link 600) productions, has a WiFi hot spot so that up to three cameras can contribute via WiFi to the system.
Intinor presented the latest version of its mobility coding system at NAB Direct link 500/600, which allows the remote news/event productions.
The system, designed for web TV (Direkt Link 500) and broadcast (Direkt Link 600) productions, has a WiFi hot spot so that up to three cameras can contribute via WiFi to the system.
Con two HDMI inputs and two HD-SDI inputs The dongle can have up to two encoders to send the PGM signal on one side and a 2x2 mosaic signal with all available sources. The remote operator can thus decide which source is sent to the PGM through a built-in mixer, or which logo or graphic is embedded in the PGM signal and for how long.
The remote operator can be in contact with the operator and/or presenter via a 4-wire communications channel.
The backpack is sold with 2, 4 or 8 3G/4G interfaces in addition to having 2 LAN connections and a WiFi cliente, for a total of 11 interfaces on which to bond.
For web TV production, Direkt Link 500 offers RTMP sending to Facebook, YouTube or other CDNs that use the Wowza Media Server, MistServer or Adobe Streaming Server. It can record in .flv format and supports multiple resolutions and frame rates.
Broadcast production
For broadcast production, it is possible to do Sends in UDP for the lowest possible latency, interlaced video and anamorphic resolutions as well as having FEC error correction.
Direkt Link 500/600 allows broadcasting through: fiber through an Ethernet connection; 3G/4G networks through up to 8 SIMs; or satellite in Ka band, with the system developed by Intinor.
Usually, when you want to transmit in Ka band, you have to access the Skylogic portal through the Viasat modem to communicate the carrier and available megasymbols per second. This function may take around 15 minutes with any other encryption device. However, through a direct integration between Intinor – Viasat, Intinor users can now shorten service availability times.
Additionally, thanks to that same integration, and while other backpacks reduce their output flow to 384 Kbps when there is a satellite signal drop to ascend, until finding the new available bandwidth, Intinor adapts in real time to the new bandwidth available.
As standard, Direkt Link offers multiple outputs as well as an HDMI output for monitoring. As for coding, it has CBR coding, in various preconfigured coding modes, or ABR coding for automatic management of Internet connection capacity.
On the other hand, it can be easily configured through an app available for IOS and Android and controlled through a web browser to, for example, download the files recorded and stored on USB devices or carry out software updates.
Direkt Link makes use of Intinor's proprietary Bifrost (BRT) protocol that allows the creation of your own coding parameters using up to 11 interfaces for bonding, for greater capacity or greater redundancy, whichever is most convenient.
By creating various profiles it is possible to have multiple destinations and shipping to different types of recipients. It scales the input signal to the chosen coding resolution and has a remote control and monitoring system, ISS, with statistics and troubleshooting through the IP2 interface.
On the other hand, the test signal can be encoded and personalized.
Two versions
Direkt Link 500/600 comes in two formats: mobility coding and in backpack mode, using an Easyrig vest.
In reception, we can use the Intinor Direkt Router, which allows us to receive up to 18 simultaneous IP streams in 1U or 36 in the 2U unit.
Direkt Router can receive video streams (MPEG2, H.264 and H265) from several different types of sources and allows multiple TCP (buffered error correction) output streams as well as multiple UDP, unicast and/or multicast chains.
With access control, the administrator can allow incoming streams only from certain sources and allows RTP + FEC – low latency error correction.
If Direkt router cannot transmit using the first network interface, it will automatically switch to the second…
Video streams can be transmitted over multiple networks to increase video quality and robustness (bonding), and it is easy to configure via screen and keyboard.
It can be controlled via web interface over the network and can be monitored, corrected and controlled remotely via ISS – Intinor System for statistics and monitoring, from where backup settings or updates can be managed, or either through the web interface.
Direkt Router also features a Peak Program Meter (PPM) for easy audio level calibration.
Settings can be stored in profiles for different locations or destinations and can be recorded in file mode, in the received video format. Recorded files can also be obtained through the web interface.
As additional applications, it can share Internet access to devices connected to the second network port (IP2) and has operation in Push and Pull modes to integrate into other remote production environments such as Avid, without the need to reconfigure the remote firewall. .
