World winner of the Short Film Festival YouTube In 2012, David Victori consolidates his international projection thanks to his award-winning short film Zero, produced by Ridley Scott and Michael Fassbender, after which the global film industry magazines Variety and Screen International point him out as one of the directors to follow in the coming years.
In this his first feature, David Victori has Belén Rueda as the protagonist, accompanied by Mireia Oriol and Darío Grandinetti, among others.
With doses of supernatural elements, this thriller, The pact, in the words of David Victori himself, “has as its starting point a very essential premise: What would you not be able to do to avoid the death of a loved one?” and he adds a disturbing idea, “What happens to those who try to avoid the natural course of life?”
For producers Edmon Roch and Jordi Gasull, “David's universe has a very strong spiritual component, for him there is some mystery in life, and that Mystery, in capital letters, captured us. It is a film that talks about Evil according to which, in some way, Evil or the Devil or whatever we want to call it always appears when we resist accepting things as they are." And they remember how “the addition of Belén Rueda to the lead role and Jordi Vallejo as co-writer of the script finished shaping the project.” They add that “a traveling companion who understood the project was necessary, and we found it in Laine Klaine, from Sony Pictures International Productions, and Iván Losada, from Sony Pictures Entertainment Iberia, who have been fundamental in being able to reach this wonderful day in the that David Victori finally makes his feature film debut and transports us all to a unique universe, full of mystery.”
Iván Losada, general director of Sony Pictures Entertainment Iberia, comments that “we had been talking to Jordi and Edmon for some time to try to find an ambitious and promising project that we could embark on together and we are excited to have found it. Both Edmon and Jordi are top-notch producers, but in addition, Jordi is an old friend and colleague in the house. On the other hand, David Victori is one of those young directors with a unique personality and creative vision and it is an honor to be able to produce his first feature film. I hope it is the first of many.”
