RTVE presents Playz, the Corporation's commitment to transmedia content

Creators, actors, presenters and directors of RTVE meet in Madrid to celebrate the launch of Playz, the Corporation's new online platform that will be available through the web, mobile devices and televisions connected through the Red Button.

Spanish Television premiered Playz last night in Madrid, a totally digital space in which the user can enjoy quality original and interactive content. This is a new online platform that supports young Spanish creators and will include interactive proposals aimed at new audiences.

After the success of the broadcast of the transmedia series If it were you In this first experimental phase, Playz will include new digital fictions such as Colleagues, Mambo, Dorien e inhibited; and other entertainment formats such as The challengers, Playchez y living people. In addition, it will incorporate magazines, documentaries and sports spaces such as the Liga Royale Champions League.

Carolina Bang, Dani Muriel, Óscar Casas, María Pedraza, Jaime Olías, Miguel Bernardeau, Manuel Feijóo, Julián González, Lara de Miguel, Fernandisco, David Sáinz, Aaron Gómez, Antón Lofer, Luna Dangelis, Javier Estévez, Rose Vale and Jorge Ponce are some of the many well-known faces that have accompanied Playz in its launch.

Interactivity and transmedia

Playz is characterized by being an open, interactive and multi-platform space, which is committed to the expansion of the transmedia universe of its content and which adapts to a digital native user who wants to consume quality content when they want and how they want, without depending on schedules. Thus, Playz content will be available on the web, mobile devices and televisions connected through the RTVE Red Button. In addition, users will be able to enjoy them on the channel Youtube of Playz as well as on their social media profiles: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Playz users will also be able to interact with the content and participate through social networks, even communicating with the protagonists of the series and enjoy the creative transmedia strategy that will be designed for each content as they have already done with 'If you were you', which will broadcast its last episode coinciding with the presentation of the new platform.

Technology

Alejandro Vega, director of RTVE Digital, highlighted to Panorama Audiovisual that Playz is a project developed by the Corporation's professionals in their commitment to interactive proposals aimed at new audiences on different platforms, especially in a television environment under the HbbTv standard.

Like other RTVE OTT services, the Corporation is using Akamai and Level 3 CDNs in Playz for the distribution of content with the highest quality. Quality is precisely one of the aspects that Vega highlights "since we offer a Full HD signal at 5.5 Mbps. In addition, some of the content will now be available in 4K through the Red Button."

On the other hand, in the development of the project it has been taken into account that the viewer has a highly participatory player so that it is very easy for them to participate in social networks. Playz will even give the viewer the possibility of sharing not only complete programs but also those key moments that they want to share on the networks. In some cases, users will even be able to participate in the plots of the series, conditioning their development in future episodes.

Vega emphasizes that this initiative "will give the opportunity to small production companies to distribute their content on a quality platform in a clear commitment by RTVE to digital talent and new creators."

The contents of Playz

Fiction

• inhibited, produced in collaboration with Grupo Ganga (responsible for 'Tell Me How It Happened') and The Summer Agency, is an eight-episode youth thriller that will allow users to take part in the broadcast in real time through an interactive player. The cast includes young actors such as Jaime Olías, Miguel Bernardeu, Olivia Baglivi, Blanca Parés and Catalina Sopelana, and established figures such as Alberto Jiménez, Josean Bengoetxea and Aure Sánchez. The YouTuber iLeoVlogs also participates in the plot. The digital series, designed and produced by Javier Cuadrado and directed by Irene Arzuaga, has a script by Jordi García. Premieres, Monday, November 6, at 9:00 p.m. on Playz.
• Colleagues, produced by RTVE Digital in collaboration with Veralia Audiovisual Contents, is a six-episode drama that recovers the spirit of youth fiction from the 90s. Manuel Feijóo, Julián González, Lara de Miguel, Fernando Gil and Marta Solaz star in this new fiction. The cast is completed by Fernando Gil, Daniel Huarte, Rafael Reaño, Enrique Villén, Javier Coll, Fernandisco and the YouTuber 'Soy una pringada', among others. In addition, the series will feature cameos from very popular faces from the nineties.
• Things is a musical comedy from the creators of 'Malviviendo', the most successful web series to date in Spain. It tells the story of Julio and Gustavo Mambo, two losers who dare to embark on a last attempt to dedicate themselves to music. The series, produced in collaboration with Diffferent Entertainment, stars David Sanz (also director and screenwriter) and Aarón Gómez. The cast is completed by Lucía Hoyos, Sofía Privitera, David Pareja, Pablo Nicasso, Juan Amodeo and Abi Power, among others.
• Dorien is a psychological thriller with supernatural touches with a top-notch cast: Carolina Bang, Dafne Fernández, Dani Muriel, Macarena Gómez and Edu Casanova, among others. Set in the Madrid neighborhood of Malasaña, it tells the story of Dorien, a young photographer with an overwhelming personality, who hides a secret. The series, produced in collaboration with The Other Side Films, has a creative team led by Kiko and Javier Prada.

Entertainment

• The challengers, produced in collaboration with 2btube, will test some of the best-known YouTubers and influencers through different challenges presented by Antón Lofer. Radikal Sive, Luna Dangelis, Sara Pecas, Zeus Santorini, Spursito, María Herrejón and Miare's Project will compete against each other for several weeks to become The Best Challenger. To achieve this, they will have to obtain the highest score in the different challenges proposed in each program. 'Beerpong extreme', 'Whatever the emoji says', 'Nightmare in the box' or 'Blow the word', will be some of the tests they face. Premiere, Sunday, November 12, at 8:30 p.m. on Playz.
• Playchez, produced in collaboration with Never Seenn Media, is the first connected cooking experience in Spain, in which chef Javier Estévez (owner of La Tasquería, in Madrid) will cook live and in real time so that viewers can cook at the same time and answer their questions in real time through Facebook Live, Twitter or YouTube. Live premiere, Thursday, November 2 at 8:30 p.m., on Playz.
• living people It is an entertainment format made up of humor sketches starring different influencers. These are short pieces in which humor and reflection come through all kinds of formulas and formats, in realistic settings and with an absurd but plausible tone. This space, produced in collaboration with Animal Maker, will feature the participation of Jorge Ponce, Diego Fabiano, Darío Emehache, David Suárez, Celia de Molina, Pablo Ibarburu and Miguel Campos, among other young comedians. Premieres, Friday, November 3, at 8:30 p.m. on Playz.
