The camera, developed in close collaboration with the Japanese NHK, has three 1.25-inch 8K sensors and is capable of outputting 8K, 4K and HD signals at the same time with the application of different color spaces and OETFs to each sign.

Sony an IBC 2017

Sony has presented its first 9K camera this Friday at IBC 2017. The new UHC-8300 features three 1.25-inch 8K sensors and has been designed to include all the features required for high-end productions, including live broadcasts, entertainment programs and high-quality documentaries based on real facts. Its 8K (7680 x 4320) capture format at 120p delivers well-balanced high-resolution footage with impressive depth of field and wide dynamic range, making it suitable for HDR footage in both S-Log3 and Log-Gamma. hybrid (HLG), with support for ITU-R BT.2020 color space.

The UHC-8300 camera system can be used not only for 8K production, but also for 4K. It is capable of outputting 8K, 4K and HD signals at the same time with the application of different color spaces and OETF to each signal. It also allows the simultaneous output of 8K HDR, 4K HDR and HD SDR signals. Accessories for HDC series cameras, such as viewfinders and remote control panels, are also compatible with the UHC-8300 system.

Real-time cropping from an 8K image to a 4K image provides flexible framing when capturing live action, enabling creative enhancement features that result in better program production.

The original lens mount is 1.25 inches, but the UHC-8300 also supports B4-mount 4K lenses with a lens adapter. Audiovisual companies can choose the corresponding 4K lenses to ensure they capture every moment of the action, especially in live sports production, which requires high-power zoom lenses.

The 8K signal is transmitted via SDI, although the UHC-8300 system also supports IP connectivity, making it ready for today's IP-enabled live production system.

Sony has developed this camera in close collaboration with the Japanese public television NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation).

Sony Venice a IBC 2017
Sony VeniceVenice

Sony has revealed at IBC its new Venice digital cinematography camera, a 36x24mm 6K full-frame solution, with anamorphic capabilities, interchangeable sensor, 8-level ND filter system, new color management system and a completely new design. modular. Sony's new generation of CineAlta cameras, which inherit aspects of the popular F65 and F55, aim to expand the creative freedom of directors through the capture of cinema images in full frame and large format, offering natural skin tones and excellent response in low lights.

Now, the Venice's 36x24mm full-frame sensor allows compatibility with a wide range of lenses, including anamorphic, Super 35mm and full-frame PL-mount lenses, increasing creative freedom with shallow depth of field.

The lens mount can also be changed to support E-mount lenses for shooting situations that require smaller, lighter, and wider lenses. User-selectable areas of the image sensor allow shooting in Super 35mm 4 – perfect. Future firmware updates will allow the camera to handle 36mm 6K resolution. Rapid image scanning technology will also minimize the so-called “Jello” effect.

Another aspect that the new Venice provides is its advanced color management that puts greater control and freedom in the hands of creatives to fine-tune color from the camera itself and prepare the way for final correction in post-production. Venice also has over 15 stops of latitude to handle challenging low-light or direct sunlight lighting situations with a smooth roll-off.

Sony IBC 2017

Three new camcorders

In this IBC Sony launched three new handheld camcorders (XDCAM PXW-Z90, NXCAM HXR-NX80 and the Handycam FDR-AX700). They feature Sony's innovative Fast Hybrid AF system and combine a fast and reliable autofocus (AF) function tailored for recording with a 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor. All new camcorders support an instant HDR (High Dynamic Range) workflow, allowing users to produce stunning HDR content with minimal post-production to suit various content creation situations and applications.

The Fast Hybrid AF system ensures high-precision focusing and tracking during recording, provided by 273 phase-detection AF points covering approximately 84% of the recording area, high-quality autofocus point placement density and a newly developed AF algorithm. This reduces the burden of focusing, especially when precise focusing is required for recording 4K videos. In movie shooting mode, the display of phase detection AF frames indicates the area in focus and allows users to easily track a subject that is in focus. The new camcorders feature a high-resolution OLED display (0.39 type OLED, 2,359k dots) and advanced touch screen operation, on the large 3.5 type LCD screen (1,555k dots), to allow Users can quickly switch focus from one subject to another, while AF Drive Speed, Tracking Depth Range and Subject Switching Sensitivity can be configured as required for different subjects and content styles.

Sony RX0

Action with the RX0

Already anticipated at the recent IFA in Berlin, Sony is showing its new RX0 action camera at this IBC. Designed to compete with established brands in this field with GoPro, this new camera is designed not only for outdoors but also for indoors or as capture for mounting on rigs in order to create effects such as multi-camera time lapse.

It has a 21 megapixel Exmor RS sensor (15.3 real) that collects images that pass through a 24 millimeter lens with an f/4 aperture manufactured by Zeiss.

Its extra-rigid duralumin body and ultra-compact dimensions allow for easier shooting. Plus, it can withstand heavy weight, impacts, and is waterproof, delivering reliable performance during tough shots.
The camera records high-quality super slow motion movies at frame rates up to 960 fps/1,000 fps (40 times the normal frame rate).

Plus, its super-fast shutter up to 1/32,000 reduces distortion when shooting fast-moving subjects. The camera also allows you to take bursts of up to 16 photographs in RAW format.

High-quality, uncompressed 4K data can be recorded to an external recorder, and S-Log2 gamma and picture profile settings enable expressive, professional-style videos.
