Hispasat demonstrates the possibilities of 4K HDR and IP transmission via satellite
The operator carries out a 4K HDR reception demonstration at IBC using its H30W-5 satellite. Additionally, there will be a demonstration of IP satellite transmission with live interviews and recordings.
Hispasat presents its latest satellites and technological innovations for the audiovisual market at IBC 2017 (stand 1C37). The Spanish satellite communications operator is demonstrating at the fair the possibilities of its new satellites, including the recently launched Amazonas 5, which expands the operator's capacity on the American continent.
This satellite, which has 24 Ku-band transponders and coverage over Central and South America, will allow the transmission of more than 500 television channels providing direct-to-home television (DTH) services and will be of great importance in promoting 4K television in the region. . In addition, this satellite incorporates 34 Ka-band spots that will provide connectivity services to more than half a million people in Latin America.
In addition, the operator will carry out several live demonstrations at its stand. On the one hand, a demonstration will be carried out via satellite in collaboration with Dolby Vision through audiovisual reception in 4K HDR format (HDR 10 and Dolby Vision simultaneously) using Hispasat's H30W-5 satellite, with content provided by Televisión Española. Reception and viewing at the stand will be carried out using this satellite and a decoder connected to a 4K HDR television. HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology complements Ultra High Definition by providing more brightness, intensity and better colorimetry.
IP satellite transmission
On the other hand, in collaboration with the companies Sematron and Syntelix, Hispasat is carrying out a demo of live IP transmission by satellite. During the fair, interviews and recordings are carried out that are transmitted and received, via satellite, for subsequent online dissemination VOS (video over social media).
Finally, Hispasat will collaborate with the company Newtec in its S2X channel bonding demonstration, which allows optimization of the sending of high-bandwidth video channels. This demonstration can be seen at the Newtec stand at IBC (1A49).
