Dolby launches IMS3000 integrated media server that combines Dolby image and audio processing in a single unit
It also unveils the new SLS Express series of three-axis SLS speakers, which reproduce exceptionally clear and powerful sound in a lighter and smaller format, which can be installed more easily and in less time.
Coinciding with Cinemacon in Las Vegas, Dolby has announced the launch of its new Dolby IMS3000 integrated multimedia server that combines Dolby image and sound processing in a single unit that, together with the Dolby multichannel amplifier and the SLS Express series, offer an integrated and complete solution from 5.1 to Dolby Atmos.
Jed Harmsen, Senior Director of Cinema Products, admits that “the industry needs a way to offer its consumers an extraordinary entertainment experience at their own pace and without having to spend large amounts of money. We present for the first time an innovative integrated solution for audio and image that will help the industry save time and money, and that also allows for more efficient equipment management, while providing greater flexibility for rooms of any capacity, screen dimensions, budget or business needs.”
Dolby has worked with exhibitors, distributors and others in the industry to develop this new integrated solution that offers cinema exhibitors and the rest of the industry greater flexibility, scalability and profitability than they previously enjoyed.
Benefits include a more streamlined and simplified digital cinema operation from post-production to playback with content management software solutions. The Dolby IMS3000 is an innovative image server and audio processor that offers greater flexibility by decoding all Dolby audio formats. Exhibitors can start with Dolby Audio 5.1 or 7.1 and upgrade to Dolby Atmos whenever they want. The SLS Express Series with Dolby Multi-Channel Amplifier makes Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio more cost-effective for exhibitors to install, while maintaining the highest standard of sound for rooms of all sizes.
An innovative image server and audio processor in a single device, Dolby IMS3000 provides reliability and allows exhibitors to project their movies with superior sound quality. The solution also offers sound flexibility, as exhibitors can start with Dolby Audio 5.1 or 7.1, and discover the power of Dolby Atmos later. Thanks to the Dolby IMS3000's unified user interface and simplified design, installation and operation is more convenient and cost-effective, helping to create a cinema experience that viewers will love. The IMS3000 is also compatible with Dolby's Fidelio and CaptiView accessibility equipment.
This advanced, high-density design can replace up to 16 stereo amplifiers, takes up less shelf space and produces less heat, reducing overall cost. By having to install, power and maintain less equipment, exhibitors get a cleaner, more efficient setup. The Dolby multi-channel amplifier is available in two configurations of 24 or 32 channels.
Series SLS Express
Also new is the launch of the SLS Express series of three-axis SLS loudspeakers, which reproduce exceptionally clear and powerful sound in a lighter and smaller format, which can be installed more easily and in less time. It also has a quick SLS suspended installation system that simplifies the installation of suspended speakers, reducing labor costs and room downtime. This new equipment can be added to a variety of installation options as it integrates seamlessly with existing or new equipment, giving exhibitors greater flexibility when outfitting rooms of any size. The series also includes the first Dolby multichannel amplifier, an advanced new design that can replace up to 12 stereo amplifiers.
