Shotoku partners with CamMate to develop supports for virtual and augmented reality
As a result of this agreement, the Graphica series was born with cranes capable of calculating the position data output of the built-in physical rotary encoders.
One of the key aspects in the development of virtual and augmented reality productions is the use of supports with adequate precision. Aware of this, Shotoku has been associated with CamMate, specialized in manufacturing cranes, to develop supports for VR and AR. As a result of this agreement, the Graphica series arises, a range of cranes for virtual reality and augmented reality with tracking capabilities in a portable, scalable and stable package.
Graphica calculates the position data output from the built-in physical rotary encoders, specifically for VR applications. Free of external markers, Shotoku encoders continuously process data through the SPI interface to provide real-time data output in the studio.
Tony Hanada, CEO of Shotoku, highlights that “the Graphica range represents the best of our companies and NAB is the ideal event to reveal it to the demanding professionals who attend the fair looking for the most advanced and reliable technology available.”
For her part, Linda Mitchell, president of CamMate, acknowledges that “CamMate is delighted that Shotoku has selected our crane as part of the Graphica product line. Shotoku brings its advanced VR technology and partners it with the CamMate brand worldwide. We feel that both brands will have an even stronger position in the global arena.”
SmartPed
Along with this new range Shotoku will also show at NAB 2017 the new SmartPed, a completely XY robotic pedestal and the new generation Free-d2 tracking system.
SmartPed is a fully robotic XY pedestal that answers the creative and commercial demands of airborne environments with a high-performance, cost-effective solution. The three-wheel smooth steering pedestal features a new height column without the need for pneumatic balance, multi-zone collision detection systems and a precision electromechanical steering/drive system for unique performance and reliability. SmartPed offers instant switching between local/remote operation, making the pedestal versatile and easy to operate in any application. No reference or calibration is required when switching between these modes and a local joystick mounted on the weight bar allows for easy control from the studio itself as needed.
