Lucas Vidal wins two statuettes in his debut at the Goya
The young composer wins the Goya for Best Original Music for 'Nobody Wants the Night' and the best song for 'Palmeras en la Noche', composed with Pablo Alborán.
Lucas Vidal did a double on the night of the Goya by obtaining the two statuettes for which he was competing as the author of the best Original Music for Nobody wants the night and the best song by Palm Trees at Night, along with Pablo Alborán. In his speech, the young composer encouraged young people to fight for his dreams, using himself as an example of what is possible when “there is a minimum of talent and a lot of desire and effort.”
The award for best Original Music came in open competition with Alberto Iglesias, whom the musical author himself defines as “the best composer we have ever had and whom I admire on a personal and professional level, so I would not speak of competition between us in this art world. Nobody has lost or won. Art is not measured like that.”
Vidal insisted both in his speech at the Gala and in his appearance before the press on giving “a message of encouragement to young people who are starting out in the world of creation.” For his part, Pablo Alborán, co-author of the winning song Palmeras en la Nieve, was happy that his first foray into creating music for cinema had this support, he thanked Lucas Vidal for his trust and was in favor of expanding on this collaboration.
The original music of Nobody wants the night was recorded in Macedonia while the music of Palm trees in the snow at Abbey Road Studios (London), Los Angeles, Macedonia and Madrid.
