Jesús del Cerro sets his new film in communist Romania
Del Cerro directs, produces and writes this new film together with actor and producer Dragos Bucur and the help of the Centrul National al Cinematografiei (CNC).
Jesús del Cerro is filming these days in Bucharest Uruguay, the seventh film by the Spanish director and producer who this time presents a multigenerational story set in Nicolae Ceausescu's communist Romania. The film revolves around the life of Andrei and his family, a hard-working and humble family from the city of Bucharest. Filming takes place in Bucharest, Romania.
Jesús del Cerro directs, produces and writes this new film together with actor and producer Dragos Bucur and the help of the Centrul National al Cinematografiei (CNC). Dragos Bucur (Andrei) and actress Cristina Flutur (Ioana), will give life to the couple protagonists of the story. The screenplay for the film is co-written with Manuel Feijoo, Beatriz González Cruz and Ruxandra Ghitescu.
Dracos Bucur is one of Romania's most renowned actors, has participated in more than thirty films and has received several awards for best actor, including two GOPO, a BAFIC, three NICUs and the "Timica" Prize at the Young Actor Gala. Dragos also works with the director as a producer. He has produced several films such as Luzuri 2 or Love Alt Building. She has also worked in international productions such as The Way Back, directed by Peter Weir and 'Wallander' with Kenneth Branagh.
For her part, Cristina Flutur made an extraordinary debut in 2012 in the film Beyond the hills as Alina Ringhis. For her performance in this film, she received the Best Actress Award at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
As for the director, Jesús del Cerro, among his works the Spanish film stands out Carlitos and the Field of Dreams winner of the Best Film and Audience Award at Giffoni (the most important children's and youth film festival in the world); Fish trap (winner of the GOPO for the highest-grossing Romanian film of the year 2012) or S-a Furat Mireasa ('They Have Stolen the Bride').
