Lexon Introduces Solid State Logic's XL-Desk Simple and Smart Analog Table
Lexon is organizing a technical conference in Madrid and Barcelona, where the XL-Desk console will be presented and analyzed, as well as other innovative products from Solid State Logic, Genelec and Audio-Technica.
As part of its campaign to publicize the most advanced innovations that firms have launched on the market SSL, Genelec and Audio-Technica, Lexon During the month of April, it organizes several technical information sessions, aimed especially at recording studios and sound technicians. These sessions will take place at the company's premises in Barcelona and Madrid. Specifically, they will be held on April 21 and 22 at Lexon's facilities in Madrid, and on April 28 and 29 at the company's headquarters in Barcelona.
The schedule of the days will be in all cases from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. (limited capacity, reserved here).
The new XL-Desk offers a modern take on the classic analogue study table. It's designed for recording or mixing engineers who need an analog console in a DAW-centric studio, but don't need the built-in DAW control and analog level automation that other SSL-made models have made the new standard for hybrid studios. XL-Desk is in many ways a traditional 24/8 analogue desk, but it also incorporates an incredible collection of features. It has 20 channel strips, 16 dual mono inputs (switchable between main input or DAW return) and four stereo channels. The first eight channels have VHD microphone preamps. It has space for up to 18 500 rack format modules, which can be used for additional processing.
Also on display will be Nucleus, a controller that redefines professional studio projects by incorporating a seamless combination of advanced DAW control, transparent SuperAnalogue monitoring, high-end analogue mic preamps, professional-quality USB audio interface and native Duende plug-ins included. Nucleus is based on the concepts developed for SSL's Matrix console. Up to 3 different DAWs can be connected simultaneously, and the user can switch between them, simply by pressing a button.
At the conference, we will also be able to see the Sigma analogue mixing engine designed with the DAW user in mind who is looking for the legendary sound of SSL consoles, but wants to enjoy the convenience of working with a compact unit, Sigma is the only automated SuperAnalogue summing engine for DAW. Sigma's 100% analog mixing engine can be driven by automation data created by the desired DAW. Sigma has 16 flexible input channels that can be individually switched between mono or stereo for up to 32 channels in mixing.
The unconventional and compact 8351A 3-way Coaxial Active Monitor from the SAM series will be another novelty. Designed with three ways, it combines the revolutionary ACW technology, exclusive to Genelec, with two other innovative technologies, also developed exclusively by this firm: the MDC transducer and the MaxDCW waveguide, to produce controlled directionality over a wide bandwidth. The Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM 2.0) computer control enables repeatable and reliable behavior over a proprietary network. Genelec AutoCal automatically measures and aligns each of the monitors included in the network, adjusting their level, synchronization, and equalization to compensate for anomalies in room response.
The ATH-M70x is the latest addition to Audio-Technica's already prestigious M-series. These are professional studio headphones that incorporate a 45 mm transducer, and have been optimized to accurately reproduce both the lower and upper range of the sound spectrum (5 to 40,000 Hz), maintaining a perfect tonal balance. It offers excellent insulation and is equipped with 90º rotatable elements.
The ATH-R70x is Audio-Technica's first open-back headphone. It incorporates specially designed transducers and acoustically transparent enclosures. It also features a new, improved 3D support system design, and a detachable cable that maintains proper stereo orientation, no matter how it's connected.
In microphones, the AT5040, a more advanced cardioid condenser microphone for studio music from Audio-Technica, stands out. Its revolutionary design is based on four exquisitely associated diaphragms that work together as the largest element ever designed by Audio-Technica, providing a combined surface area twice as large as a standard one-inch circular diaphragm. By using four diaphragms in a single capsule, it offers the advantages of an exceptionally large diaphragm (along with extremely low background noise), without the weight gain, decreased transient response, or other issues that generally limit the size of the diaphragm. It also has an advanced internal anti-vibration mount, which manages to decouple the capsule from the microphone body.
Finally, the AT5045, belonging to the 50 series of studio microphones, is a side-pickup condenser microphone for instruments, with a large hand-made diaphragm, and with a cardioid polar pattern, designed to provide a natural and perfectly balanced sound, with exceptional realism and depth. Available individually or as stereo pairs (AT5045P), it has been designed to meet the most demanding requirements of professional recording.
