Dolby Cinema, a new concept in exhibition halls
The first Dolby Cinemas in the world will be in the recently built JT Cinemas complex in Eindhoven (Netherlands) and in UCI/Cinesa La Maquinista, in Barcelona (Spain).
Dolby has presented Dolby Cinema, a new cinema concept for exhibition halls and for moviegoers that combines the most advanced sound and image technologies with an inspired design so that each visit is a completely captivating cinematic event.
Kevin Yeaman, president and CEO of Dolby Laboratories, emphasizes that “Dolby has applied decades of research and development in Dolby Cinema to deliver a visual and auditory experience that will transport audiences into the story like never before. Dolby Cinema will be the most attractive way for moviegoers to see new releases.”
Dolby Cinema begins with the vision of the filmmaker, who will be able to use all the capabilities that Dolby offers in the production of images and sound to tell their stories and thus transform the way movies are made. Before enjoying a film in a Dolby Cinema, the audience will be able to enjoy its design, which has been conceived to provide the viewer with the full impact of the filmmaker's work. By combining design with the most avant-garde image and sound technologies, the film comes to life giving the viewer the opportunity to enjoy it as it was conceived by its creator.
Dolby Vision
Dolby Cinema will feature the Dolby Vision projection system, which uses cutting-edge image processing and optics capable of delivering high dynamic range with enhanced color technology that has already been praised by filmmakers for its incredible contrast, high brightness and a wide range of colors that comes closer than ever before to what the human eye is capable of seeing. With Dolby Vision, blacks are truly black, colors are vivid, and the contrast ratio certainly exceeds that of other imaging technologies on the market today. The result is a richer, more detailed experience that delivers incredibly vivid and realistic images that make viewers feel like they are inside the movie. The first Dolby Vision projectors and brand new titles with this technology will arrive in 2015.
The first Dolby Cinemas, installed in collaboration with exhibition halls around the world, will feature the most advanced high-brightness laser projection technology available today with HFR, 4K, and Dolby 2D and 3D projection capabilities. When Dolby Vision films are released, the laser projection systems in Dolby Cinemas will be replaced with Dolby Vision projection systems. The Dolby Cinemas will also feature the award-winning Dolby Atmos sound technology. Dolby Atmos moves audio throughout the theater, including overhead, delivering richness and depth to sounds. Music, people and objects flow around the room in sync with the action, offering a more immersive and exciting experience.
Cinemas have been designed to create atmosphere and introduce the audience even further into the story. Dolby Cinemas can be customized to theater needs, with a host of features including a flagship entrance and a dynamic audio-visual path that provides a new canvas for studio creatives to start telling their story before the start of the show. the movie itself. Other available features include large wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling movie screens, ambient lighting and faceted acoustic panels designed to improve sound quality and increase the feeling of being inside the movie. In addition, all places where a Dolby Cinema is installed will go through a sophisticated visual and acoustic treatment process to perfectly adapt them and offer a premium cinema experience.
The world's first Dolby Cinemas will be at the newly built JT Cinemas complex in Eindhoven, Netherlands, and UCI/Cinesa La Maquinista, in Barcelona, Spain. Additional displays will be announced as installation plans are completed.
