Pan-European news channel chooses EVS as the heart of its HD news production workflow.

Euronews, the most important news channel in Europe, has opted for EVS in news production both outside and inside their studios. Immersed in a migration process to high definition, EVS XS media servers and the IPDirector production asset management suite are consolidated as the true heart of the new live workflow at Euronews.

EVS XSBernard Fournier, director of AV support at Euronews, highlighted that “in a breaking news environment where things are literally changing at the moment, it is essential that we have fast, flexible and ultra-reliable technology that can be configured for both studio and live productions. EVS is widely recognized as the industry standard for this type of fast-paced workflow. Having the ability to edit on the fly, while continuing to ingest material, was also crucial in our decision for our production team.”

EVS's innovative news solutions have been integrated with broadcast and storage systems. Harmonic already existing Euronews. The XS servers will be used to enable news production, either live or in the studio with ingestion of multiple feeds, distributing signal for playout or for the video walls in the studio. It will also allow Euronews to manage 16 audio channels for broadcast, adjusting to its need to report in thirteen different languages. The IPDirector system will be used to control ingest and broadcast commands, as well as manage content.

The XS servers provide Euronews with the flexibility needed to cover breaking news. Servers can be configured differently for each role, with up to six reversible HD channels per server. The servers are connected via an EVS XNet2 broadband peering network, offering operators immediate access to content ingested on any server from any IP Director workstation.
