New features and licenses

The licenses for the new Artist Suite for professional video will look like this:

  • Media Composer Cloud (formerly Interplay Sphere) extends real-time production everywhere, giving editors using Media Composer the option to connect remotely and access, edit, and collaborate with colleagues as if they were all together. This allows editors and assistants to shape stories collaboratively and remotely in the cloud; It also allows production companies to film on location to speed up dailies and advance editing, for faster production, no matter the location.
  • Media Composer – Software Subscription Licenses. With new monthly and annual Media Composer subscription options (available in Q2), Avid has significantly reduced the cost of access to the industry's most trusted editing tool. It is now possible to purchase the latest set of Media Composer tools, as well as support and updates, for a low monthly or annual rental cost, or purchase the software with one year of support and updates. Subsequent updates are obtained through annual support renewal.
  • Media Composer. Floating software licenses: For large-scale audiovisual companies, post-production studios, and educational institutions, Avid now offers floating licenses for Media Composer (available in Q2), making it possible to purchase a “bundle” of shared licenses to deploy across the entire installation using a single system ID. The floating license server software can be installed on a Windows computer, with the server software accessible from any Mac, allowing multiple editors to use Media Composer on any number of workstations as long as licenses are available (not actively In use). Administrators can also allow users to take licenses for, say, a laptop, use them outdoors, and set them so that the expiration date coincides with the end of the project.
