Lawo displays at NAB an innovative IP network for transporting video, audio and intercom

The system is based on Lawo's V__link4 video over IP interfaces and can operate in local stagebox applications, for example a mobile unit, as well as remote IP-based productions.

The demonstration in Las Vegas based on V__link4 focuses on the distribution of video over IP from Lawo interfaces, along with Clear-Com and Riedel intercoms, and Ikegami cameras and CCUs, in addition to the Lawo Dallis audio I/ interface EITHER.

The main concept of this IP ecosystem is to be able to place the camera CCUs in remote locations. Video, audio, communications and camera control data are transported over IP, significantly reducing cabling efforts and increasing the flexibility of any true IP networking installation. Lawo's V__link4 is a compact 1RU device, designed for production-quality real-time contribution and distribution of 3G/HD/SD-SDI signals over IP networks. V__link4 provides two 10 Gb Ethernet ports and four 1 Gb Ethernet ports and MADI and Ravenna connectivity. Four encoding engines included in the V__link4 meet the highest demands on video quality and signal transport reliability. Lawo's proposal includes a frame recovery system and parallel redundancy protocol that allows the system to overcome any failure in the single network without compromising data transmission.

The format and quality of IP video streams can be individually configured to satisfy the optimal relationship between image quality, latency and bandwidth. This solution has been designed for the bidirectional transport of four SDI signals, with video over IP encoding and decoding, signal processing and delay rectification.

Lawo's virtual audio router, Jade 2.0, is a versatile tool, capable of managing all the audio that enters and leaves the computer. It simplifies workflows when working with multiple audio sources and applications, allowing less technically skilled audio users such as journalists and news editors to operate more independently.

As middleware between a computer's audio sources and applications, this radio software tool provides a unified interface for all audio applications, even when multiple audio hardware paths are included.
