Thanks to digital migration, Tijuana has managed to recover 48 megahertz of the 700 band.

COFETELAfter two postponements ordered by the plenary session of the Federal Telecommunications Commission (COFETEL) between April and May of this year, the border city of Tijuana in Mexico has finally become the first city in Latin America to complete the transition process to digital TV.

According to COFETEL, Mexico is now the first country in the region to have a fully digitalized city.

Thanks to this migration, Tijuana has managed to recover 48 megahertz of the 700 band, which also begins the process of recovering the country's radio spectrum.

The president of COFETEL, Mony de Swaan, said that after the analog blackout, the development of the 700 Megahertz band will take place, which will be used for the deployment of telecommunications services such as mobile broadband.

José Ignacio Peralta, Undersecretary of Communications of the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT), said that the Federal Government will not reverse the transition process to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT).
