With 1.3 million square meters, the new complex which will be developed in three phases will include two sports stadiums, an indoor velodrome, three production studios, an IBC and a mobile unit.

Ashgabat Olympics ComplexWith the help of the Turkish systems integrator AKFA Technology, EVS will implement numerous solutions in the first of three phases of the development of the large Ashgabat Olympic complex in Turkmenistan. This 1.3 million square meter complex will include two sports stadiums, an indoor velodrome, three production studios, an IBC and a mobile unit. These facilities will feature a wide range of EVS solutions for storage, editing and PAM. The facility is scheduled to be completed before the end of the year, and is expected to be fully operational in spring 2014.

Polimeks, based in Istanbul, has been the company in charge of developing the architectural concept and construction of the different facilities. Policom Technology, a subsidiary of Polimeks, will be responsible for the supply and installation of multimedia systems that will be used in the complex and will work hand in hand with AKFA in the deployment of the live broadcast production infrastructure.

Numerous XT3 and XS servers will be deployed both in the velodrome and in the two stadiums, as well as in the studios, IBC and mobile unit. As for the IPDirectors, they will be used for content production and asset management. Xedio Dispatcher will be used to collect materials and Xedio CleanEdit, EVS' non-linear editing system, will be used for editing and voice-over recordings. The mobile unit will feature an XFly portable storage platform, while XStore SAN is used to provide central storage.

All production facilities on the premises will be connected to the central storage unit, allowing operators anywhere to browse through material and access stored low-resolution files.

“EVS solutions are future-proof and scalable, something that has been crucial at the Ashgabat Olympics Complex,” said Sari Dogan, sales and projects director AKFA Technology. "The city of Ashgabat will be at the forefront of organizing major international sporting events in the future, so we have to ensure that any technology installed can cope with multiple formats, as well as 3G and 1080p. There was zero margin for error and this has been an important point when choosing technology components, and EVS definitely offers what we were looking for," he added.
