'The Cosmonaut': crowdfunding and transmedia mark a new way of making films
With a minimum contribution of two euros, some 5,000 people have supported the director Nicolás Alcalá and the production company Riot Cinema in this micro-crowdfunding project.
The movie The Cosmonaut, a film by Riot Cinema Collective and 5,000 more people thanks to crowdfunding (collective financing thanks to thousands of individual contributions), premieres today, Tuesday, May 14, in the center of Madrid.
The Cosmonaut is the story of three characters immersed in the fifteen most exciting years of the space race: successes and failures, accidents, conspiracies, favoritism and secret missions. It is not just a film, it is also a Transmedia project (30 webisodes, an alternative ending, a secret short film, several books...).
With a minimum contribution of two euros, some 5,000 people have supported the director Nicolás Alcalá and the production company Riot Cinema in this micro-crowdfunding project. Crowdfunding is a new form of financing that can allow small projects to be carried out that do not attract regular producers because they do not see profitability in them.
The Cosmonaut can be seen simultaneously starting May 18 in movie theaters and on DVD as well as on the Internet and television (Yomvi and Canal + Xtra).
