Colombia inaugurates the largest digital IMAX theater in South America
The room has 602 seats, 21 subwoofers and five main speakers for each channel with a total of 62 speakers and a 21 x 29 meter screen.
Cinemas Procinal has just inaugurated its new theater IMAX Digital in the Plaza de las Américas Shopping Center (Bogotá), the largest in South America. Within the framework of an ambitious process of digitization of its theaters in Colombia, the exhibitor has modernized its IMAX theater inaugurated in 2008, converting it to digital.
The room has 602 seats, 21 subwoofers and five main speakers for each channel with a total of 62 speakers (28,000 watts of power) and a 21 x 29 meter screen that weighs about 1 ton and is eight stories high.
In this way, this IMAX Digital room becomes the largest and most modern in the entire center and south of the continent, as well as a reference point for tourism in Bogotá.
The project was carried out over two weeks by a team of 60 professionals, under the direction of Canadian IMAX-certified engineer, Mark Peers.
